GRENADA DISCONTINUES SESSION OF PARLIAMENT, STALLING NO...
Prime Minister Tillman Thomas has written to the Governor General Sir Carlyle Glean asking that the Parliament be prorogued sixth months early.
This would effectively allow Thomas to avoid debate on the no-confidence motion which was filed by former Minister of Foreign Affairs in his administration, Karl Hood The Grenadian Parliament, which opened on March 29 this year, was scheduled to come to an end on March 31 next year, but has not sat since August, shortly after the no-confidence motion was tabled by Hood.

Thomas’ decision to cut the Parliamentary year means that when the next session begins, the no-confidence motion against him would have fallen off Parliament’s Order Paper and would need to re-tabled if it is ever to be debated.

The move may buy Thomas time to thwart any attempt by opposition lawmakers and unhappy backbenchers from his party to push through the measure. A brief statement from Office of the Prime Minister on Monday morning said a date for the commencement of the new session of the eighth Parliament will be announced.

Hood, who resigned as minister, is one of four MPs of the National Democratic Congress sitting as backbenchers in the House of Representatives.

There has been widespread speculation that those four backbenchers as well as the four Opposition members would have teamed up to provide the eight-vote majority needed to push through the no-confidence motion.

Opposition Leader Dr. Keith Mitchell has called for the debate on the motion saying the failure to have it was entirely contrary to the principles and practices of democracy which risks damaging Grenada’s image in the international and regional community.

Mr Prestom Marshall sir you are so right because for years i have been saying that some of our people here in grenada sometimes do forget the wrongs and betrayal that has befall us and it is right that we reminds them for this vote of confidence is another way of trying to bring down a government simple because some upstarts believe that she or he has the better polices to run our country when in fact their real motive is power at all cost and here you are correct because the issues with the financial companies reference cap bank and others was happening during the period of the last government and many of our old ,farmers ,local shopkeepers fishermen ,builders, etc lost their hard earned/saved money and what did the then government of the nnp do nothing, was there any compensation paid out to thoes who lost their savings no,no,did they re-enact a law which would safe guard the financial security sector thus preventing such things happening again no,no, and no sooner did this government attempted to lay such an act/law into force the leader of opposition together with some renegrades in the NDC decided to object thus making it plain for all to see that they are looking after the interest of their banking buddies and today we now know which side these defectors is batting for and god help us should they be re-elected back in to run our country. one love

It may be all well and good to move a Vote of No Confidence in the Govt. Many of us had confidence in the Building and Loan Association, British American Insurance, CapBank etc. Why not move a vote of No Confidence in the Legal System of Grenada for failing to bring those thieves who stole poor people's money and living in luxury. It seems as though corruption is what prevails in Grenada today. Can we beg Britain to take us back?

Why cant we just get along?we are in a country where dog eat dog so sad.How comes that these politicans donot put country first?then we wonder why the younger generation donot respect politicans and prefer to drink, smoke, andlook for an easy way out instead of being innovators, developers and progressive young men and women, the more things change the more it remains the same,Gairy oppressed the people and keep them in fear,Bishop had his hatters and killers next to him,Mitchell wanted power at all cost and Herbbie payed the price and now Tillman has his Judas and power hungry men around him.We are a small country where a man, woman and child should have a good quality of life with some dignity, but here in Grenada the force of evil is great, some believe that to look down on the less fortunate so they can feel better about themselves,so sad here in Grenada.Hope one day the people will wake up and kick these bums out and take make Grenada the place everyone can have some dignity and pride in themselves and push us to some serious developement.

Morning Bro. stallion i hear you re the P.M.calling time on the closing of parliament quote early but please allow me to say this and while the PM is in his right according to the parliament procedures what is most important is what political issues / matters he and his government deems to be in urgent need that the government and the country need dealing with and yes it could be that information before him indicates that there is a political storm brewing with reference to thoes renegrades hell bent on bringing down this government with the assistance of some members of the opposition and once again it goes to show what some of these so-called politicans will do to gain power less we forget the butcher Bernard Coard and his hench men and that the PM has taken the steps he believe is in the best interest of the government and the people of grenada, for it is fair to say that from the report as reported from the jamacian gleaner it states that the brothers David,Hood,Church and other former members of the NDC together with three menbers from the opposition are the main culpits who is planning this motion with little regard to the wellbeing of our people and our country and who have believe that three former rebels from the NDC would be sitting with members of the NNP ploting to bring down the peoples elected government of the NDC goes to how show how fickle these power mad these ministers are and how un trustworthy their political mentality are and that they should not be trusted to ever hold power in our country again because they are only in it for the money and power for they are not to be trusted again. one love.
