FORMER GOVERNMENT MINISTERS AMONG SEVEN EXPELLED FROM N...
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, Sep 30, CMC – Seven members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) including General Secretary Peter David and trade unionist Chester Humphrey have been expelled from the party. The other members who have been banned include former cabinet Ministers Joseph Gilbert, Karl Hood, Arley Gill, Glynnis Roberts and disciplinary committee member Siddiqui Sylvester. Supporters voted overwhelmingly to expel the members at Sunday’s annual convention of the (NDC) in the eastern parish of St. Andrew’s. David, the former tourism Minister, Hood, the former foreign affairs minister and ex environment Minister Roberts resigned from the cabinet in recent months citing differences with the four and a half year old administration of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas. The Prime Minister recently ordered the proroguing of parliament in an effort to avoid debate on a motion of no confidence against his administration filed by Hood, the second one in recent months. Gilbert was fired for writing to American investors promising them a casino license without cabinet’s approval while Gill was sacked in the aftermath of David’s resignation. Former Government Minister Phinsley St.Louis reportedly moved a motion for the party delegates to expel the seven members including Humphrey who are all known supporters of David. The rampant infighting within the ruling NDC has put a side led by Prime Minister Thomas against a group led by David in ongoing episodes of political drama. The decision to expel the seven members, in their absence, came shortly after acting chairman Pastor Stanford Simon, was thrown out of the convention. NDC supporters voted overwhelmingly for Pastor Simon to be removed after executive member Vincent Roberts moved a motion calling for his expulsion. The highly anticipated NDC convention, postponed from July, begun with a tinge of controversy as Simon arrived to jeers from some party members. Some NDC members were heard shouting to pastor Simon that he was not welcomed at the convention which is taking place at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School. However, Simon believed to be a supporter of General Secretary Peter David, had begun chairing the meeting ahead of the vote to elect a new executive. Chief of staff in the Prime Minister’s office William Joseph has taken over as chairman of the convention. Education Minister Franca Bernadine is tipped to become the new chairperson of the party.

Bro.Stallion this is from Bro.gabe and here i say to you and others that i gabe is not a political lobiest for the NDC it is just that i sincerely believed that here in grenada it has been my belief that we have in the from of our current Prime Minister a man who is trustworthy ,decent, and grenadian thinking, and it is a dammed shame that again we have some politicans playing politices with the wellbeing and livlyhood of our people, treating us the voters and our country as their own political football toy ,and this is for the soon to be ex NDC ministers and i say this to you gentlemen and the lady please in gods name resign your seats and call a by-election and in doing so you show the world at large where you are coming from politically and what your policies is all about or are you awaiting for more ministers to jump ship with you ,shame on you lot for you have put your political egoes before the wellbeing of our grenadians people shame on you.

let me make this clear for you bro.s on here.i am not alligned to any of these two parties.i did not support keith mitchell before and i probably never will.i also did not support tillman and thank god i didn't.when any of these two parties desereve criticism i will lay it on.right now ndc are the one in charge so they are the ones that face much of the criticism.littleboy, from day one i said tillman needed to clean house.he now wait till the last hour to do what he should have done years ago.i cannot support a prime minister that is weak and afraid to make the tough choices.i also said that keith mitchell was a far more effective leader than tillman.you could make the case that keith kept tillman off-balance throughout his term.but as we know, keith did some un-lawful things while in office.the prime minister also promised that he would prosecute keith for those things, but we still waiting.

I have to agree with History Man. Stallion this is why I say what I say. You are a good debater my brother, but you sometimes as they say in the US, you flipflop and it seems like you dont know where you are. One has to make a firm straight decision for what is right and stick by it if Grenada is to move forward. Mitchel can never take us unto the right path, cant you see the man is too dam corrupt? We have 2 choices here, Mitchel and Tillman. Tillman just cleaned house and now he may be able to do some nice things given the opportunity. It will take more than 2 terms to clean up Mitchel's mess. Don't you realize the debt he left us with. What is wrong wid u people?

The mess which the NDC has to clean up after the NNP is beyond 5 years and I think Tillman has the right ideas, but he had some dead weights around him, their main purpose was to high jack the party and take over leadership, does that reminds you of Coard. You can put back Mitchell and his corrupt self and see how far Grenada will get,yes NDC has to take some blame, but they are better than this Mitchell guy who wants revenge.
