FORMER MINISTER PROMISES AN 'ALTERNATIVE' FOR GRENADA V...
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada - A former top official of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said that Grenadians can expect an “alternative” from which to choose when voting at the country’s next general election. “Come the next elections, people will have an alternative,” MP Peter David said in a local television interview. David, twice elected parliamentary representative for the Town of St George, served more than ten years as general secretary of the NDC – one of two parties that have dominated politics in Grenada for almost three decades. The other is the current opposition New National Party. David, who resigned as a government minister in April, also did not seek a position on the NDC’s executive at the party’s September 30 convention. In a controversial move, a motion was passed at the convention expelling David and six others from the NDC. David, who had earlier announced that he was running in upcoming general elections, reiterated the pledge on Wednesday. “I have always committed myself to people; my entire political life has been about people,” he said. “And come next elections and come the following elections, we will be standing there to represent our people and we are going to provide for them an alternative that will certainly have people as its base.” The expulsion decision of last Sunday, which also affected four former NDC government ministers, was a demonstration of a “lack of transparency, the lack of democracy and the lack of due process,” David said. “I think it was a dark day for democracy not only in the NDC but in the political life of Grenada,” he charged. “Here it is an organization has a constitution; the constitution gives a clear procedure for dealing with persons whom you believe violated the principles of the party. It says that the convention cannot bring disciplinary actions against people. It is there for you to read. So, we are going to take whatever action is necessary.” Challenging the decision of Sunday is not about membership of the party, the former NDC general secretary explained. “I’m not fighting to be a member of the NDC. I’m fighting for our constitutional rights,” David said. “And the question is, were they violated by the same government, the same people, who claim every day to stand for respect for institutions? That is the issue – not my membership of the NDC; that is neither here nor there at this time. I think the bigger issue is the way we are headed.” According to David, “it is always said that for evil to triumph it is sufficient that good men do nothing.” He said he was amazed that there were people Sunday “sitting in the room; there were people who support this government; there were people who sat there quietly who know better; there were people who know that what was done was a violation of our constitutional rights; but yet they stayed silent.”

Brothers and Sisters of this beautiful spice islands of ours i am praying to god for another miracle to save us from these so called politicans that we have here in grenada thoes who claim to have our country at heart and at the same time while in government doing all they can to unseat/disrupt/de-stablize the very government they took an oath with to carry out the democratic business of the people of grenada and all the time they were in government they were quote deceiving parliament and the voters by their very barbaric actions in doing as much damage to the nation and its people the very voters who had bestore their trust and votes to these politicans and now that they have made their intention as to the fothcoming election whenever that may be and their actions in the eyes of the world will be seen as people/politicans who should not be trusted with running a pig pen let alone a country and its people because of their very barbaric actions so Mr Gilbert,David,Hood,Gill, the preacher, the union man ,and the lady Ms Roberts grenadians and the world at large will be weary of you and your bunch of ship jumpers simply because they will be looking towards people /politicans with stability and convictions and your actions over these last few years shows that you all have allowed your egoes to take control of you all instead of the wellfare and well being of our people the very people/voters who voted for you all little did they know that there were not much difference between you the back benchers and the out going government of Mitchell for you are all the same wolf in sheep clothing in government simply to make a name in line with your egoes but by the grace of god we will rise through all this with the decent and trusted man Tillman Thomas leading us to a better grenada because he is a true grenadian man for grenadians. one love.

Well now we know why David and his renegrade back benchers friends which includes Gilbert ,Hood,Roberts, the preacher and that union man who is hell bent on becoming a politican (like Gairy)and others who ran away like rats from the government in power, and i am sure the people of grenada is now fully aware that these politicans are prospectors who is power hungry and it does not matter what they put before you come the next election for they will always be untrustworthy because if having jumped ship now means that when the going gets tough they will jump ship again if they think that the grass is greener on the other side and here is the question as is reported, above for our voters will and should remember that David was and could still be a sleeping member of the NNP and may be he has intention of being their leader, a leader with a fresh face but the policies and the mentality is the still the same so brothers and sisters of this beautiful spice islands of ours we have been warned that the coming of David and his bunch of renegrades is near now think of Brenard Coard and his henchmen and are there any difference, same thinking different faces. god helps us one love .
