Prime Minister Keith Mitchell made history this morning (Monday, March 8) when he rung the Opening Bell signalling the start of trading at the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), being the first Caribbean Head of Government to do so. “This is very historic for the Country, and I feel honoured as Prime Minister to be part of the moment. This gives the spotlight to Grenada,” the Prime Minister said from New York. The Prime Minister held private discussions earlier this morning with NYSE President Robert Britz. Following the ringing of the Opening Bell, the Prime Minister hosted a meeting with potential investors. Areas for which the Prime Minister is seeking investments include tourism, agro processing, manufacturing and Information Communication Technology (ICT) This afternoon the Prime Minister will attend a luncheon hosted in his honour by Mr. Steven L. Sanders, President of MDL Capital Management Inc, the largest black-owned fixed-income funds manager in the USA. The luncheon will be attended by New York Secretary of State Randy A. Daniels and President of The Research Foundation, State University of New York (SUNY) John O’Connor, as well as several investors.
