Prime Minister Keith Mitchell has forwarded a letter of congratulations to gold winning medallist Alleyne Francique. The 27-year old former student of St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School captured the 400-metre gold at the 10th International Amateur Athletics Federation World Indoor Championship in Hungary, Budapest on Saturday (March 6). Following is part of the text of the letter: “It gives me great pleasure, on behalf of the Government and people of Grenada, to extend congratulations to you on your historic win at the 10th International Amateur Athletic Federation World Indoor Championship at Budapest, Hungary on March 6. I congratulate you on having the distinct honour of being the first Grenadian to win an international track and field championship. Your remarkable achievements demonstrate what can be obtained with unwavering determination, appropriate training and the willingness to apply your skills. You have set a marvellous example for other young Grenadians to emulate.
