IMF TO ASSIST WITH PENSION REFORM IN GRENADA
The Washington-based International Monetary Fund (IMF) has promised to assist the Grenada Government with pension reform. Prime Minister Dr.Keith Mitchell made this disclosure during a news conference on Thursday following his meeting with the, Tao Zhang, vice president of the IMF last week. The pledge from the IMF comes as the Keith Mitchell administration places a high priority on pension reform which the Grenadian leader has vowed to resolve before winding up his political career. The People’s Revolutionary Government ended state pensions in 1983, a decision which trade unions have been clamouring to reverse over the years. The Mitchell administration has said pension reform and the introduction of National Health Insurance are two areas being given top priority this year. The IMF pledged the continuation of technical assistance in the area of pension reform because they were concerned about the issue of pension. They know we have a difficulty there,” Prime Minister Mitchell reported. “They promise to provide all the technical support. We just have to asked and they will be there because they now believe anything Grenada says it’s going to do..it is doing”. The IMF has been high in praise for Grenada’s economic gains under a structural adjustment programme and continues to praise its ongoing relationship with social partners on national issues. So the IMF will be assisting with technical expertise in the reform of pension. Grenadians aught to be aware that the IMF does not have the interest of Grenada at heart. These billionaires are simply trying to find ways to ensure the high interest rate loans are paid back to them.imagaine that Grenada having to an extra $10,000,000 on a $25 million loan. well bro.The Observer,it is plain for all to see now that the RH Kcm and his bunch is hell bent on returning Grenada and grenadians back into the hands of our once slave masters, and here i will agree with you that once Mitchell hangs up his political horse trading boots grenadians and grenada will be left at the financial mercy of our paymasters The IMF ,The Chiness, and the world bank without a cat in hells chance of paying such massive debts to these creditors, because it is simply this that these creditors just do not give money away and as was the way when Mitchell and his party left office in 2008 Grenada will once again be the poor man island in the caribbean with the IMf to do as they want.
