QATAR CONSIDERING SPORTS VILLAGE AND MEGA YACHT MARINA ...
Qatar, one of the more advanced Arab states, is seriously considering the construction of a sports village and mega yacht marina in Grenada. Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell made this disclosure after meeting with Qatar’s minister of finance during a recent overseas trip. The meeting was held at the request of Qatar’s minister of finance. “They said they would seriously consider and they would send a technical team to look at the sports village where, for example, we can reclaim the land from the cruise ship section right up to Queen’s Park—in other words, you’ll be expanding St. George’s by several acres,”Dr. Mitchell said. “You would have a lot of office buildings, you would have more businesses being accommodated in St. George’s and you would be able to do a lot more sporting activities. Instead of having cricket, football and athletics, you should be able to have all other sports”. Qatar plans to send a technical team to Grenada to carry out site visits and meetings with local officials to discuss the projects. “They also wanted to look at a mega yacht port service in the Carenage area as a possibility. We look forward to hosting them here not too long from now, when we can follow up on some major initiatives,” PM Mitchell said. Qatar is a high-income economy, backed by the world's third largest natural gas reserves and oil reserves with the highest per capita income in the world. Source: gov.gd

QATAR CONSIDERING SPORTS VILLAGE AND MEGA YACHT MARINA ...
Fellow Grenadians it seems that news reaching the west is that all is not well in that oil reach country QATAR,yes the same country that our pm the R.H.Keith Mitchell says want to come to spice isles grenada to build a Sports Village and Yacth Marina for the rich and famous, now if this news is correct it seems that our pm has this magnetic way of attracting some strange financial bed fellows who each in turn wants to come to grenada on this CBI scheme to do business where the charecter and transparency of these people is questionable, prime minister grenada is a small island and it is fair to say that there is a lack of record of transparency and accountability within the leaders of our ruling government grenada and so we will be seen as the dumping ground for all sorts of con-merchants and fraudsters coming into our country to do business. Just Saying.

Gabe, the Observer thinks you're too late in warning your PM Keith Mitchell. It's very sad that some of our Caribbean leaders have failed to learn from their neighbors. For example, Jamaica's economy is in a shamble. Almost 90% of the country economy is owned and operated by foreign investors with absolutely no restrictions. It's main airport, hotel industry, attraction sites, natural resources, highways...are controlled and the hands of foreign investors. Should these investors decide to pull out at any time, the entire Jamaican political and economic systems would collapse. To get a better understanding of the situation, one needs to look closely at Jamaica's export-import stats. The country neglected its agro-industry, turned over its natural resources including limestone and bauxite to foreign investors for little to nothing...unable to access loans from the World Bank and IMF due to unpaid debts...its foreign exchange is about $125J to the $1US. Is Grenada following in the footsteps of its big brother-Jamaica? We aught to remember that he who controls economy, controls the people. As much as we put a lot of emphasis into attracting foreign investments, it's important that we devote as much interest into the most stable component of the economy-agriculture.
