GRENADA AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS TAKE INDUSTRIAL ACTION |
|
|
ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada: Air traffic controllers at Grenada's sole international airport have taken industrial action in the form of a sick out.
According to an insider all the workers who were scheduled to work on Monday sent in sick leave.
It is not clear what are the issues involved but one insider stated that the workers are protesting the failure of the Minister of Tourism, who also holds the aviation portfolio, to deliver on promises made to them.
The issue on the number of working hours by the traffic controllers is also said to be a contentious one.
As to whether the protest action will continue will depend on the kind of response the workers receive from the government indicated one worker at the Point Saline's International Airport.
Grenada can lose millions of dollars if this matter is not speedily resolved.
