MANDELA, TUTU FOR CONCACAF CONGRESS IN GRENADA
PORT OF SPAIN, TRINIDAD: Former President of South Africa Nelson Mandela will attend the 2004 CONCACAF Congress in Grenada on 2 May. South Africa’s Archbishop Desmond Tutu will accompany Mr. Mandela and they also will visit Trinidad & Tobago from 3-4 May upon invitation from CONCACAF President Jack Warner. Mandela and Tutu will be present at the Congress to support South Africa’s bid to host the 2010 World Cup. “The South African bid committee asked for Archbishop Tutu and Nelson Mandela to meet with me and to address the Congress in Grenada and I agreed to this,” said Warner. “I have since requested that they both visit Trinidad to meet at a dinner with several top local dignitaries and businessmen at the Dr. Joao Havelange Centre of Excellence.” South Africa will be joined by two other African nations, Egypt and Morocco, in making presentations of their bids to host the FIFA World Cup 2010 at the XXIV CONCACAF Congress in Grenada on 2 May. The FIFA Executive Committee will decide which African nation will host the 2010 World Cup at their next meeting in Paris, France on 17 May 2004. SOURCE: CARIBUPDATE.COM
