Earlier on this week, a very popular local calypsonian was picked up by local lawmen in connection with the sexual assault of a young secondary school girl believed to be about 15 years old. It is reported that the young school girl was on her way to church last week Sunday (April 19) when she was offered a ride in a vehicle driven by the calypsonian. It is alleged that he refused to drop off the child at the church but instead drove the vehicle to a remote location where he sexually assaulted her. The incident is believed to have occurred in the St. Patrick’s area where the calpysonian resides. The popular calypsonian was in police custody during the course of this week and is believed to be assisting them in their investigations into the alleged rape incident. No charges have been formally laid as yet.
