OPPOSITION CALLS ON GOVERNMENT TO ENGAGE AIR JAMAICA OF...
click
On the 8th day of May 2009, Air Jamaica, the only carrier serving Grenada from the Northeast USA, announced its new policy to passengers flying to the island, imposing a $25.00 service charge for a second piece of luggage. Furthermore the second piece of luggage is not guaranteed to arrive on the same flight as the passenger but could take as long as 7 days after for receipt. This together with the earlier change in flight schedule has generated grave concerns for out tourism Industry, particularly as market shaping media such as USA today, Travel Magazines and trade papers have all picked up the story. Her Majesty’s Opposition calls on the NDC Administration and the Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation, to intervene and hold discussions with the management of Air Jamaica to ease the burdensome inconvenience on Grenadians and other travellers to and from Grenada. During the NNP administrations there had been continuous meetings with Air Jamaica and other airlines resulting in the best possible terms and condition for our travelling public. As a responsible Opposition we intend to assist by contacting the Jamaican Government (owner of the airline), and Air Jamaica officials in NY and Miami to seek some redress on behalf of our citizens. We hope that the airline will consider the request and implement a solution to ease the difficulties and be more accommodating to our passengers in time for the upcoming carnival season. From The Office of the Leader of Her Majesty's Opposition

Hangman you are right. Tillman needs to be self-assured and not be overshadowed by Burke and David. As for Gabe your last entry lacks relevance. It discusses neither the present subject or the levy. This is a personal attack and I will respond personally but in kind. You assail my patriotism even my education. But I say to you that I am proud to be a "smart ass"- indeed I am proud to be an educated Grenadian. I make no apologies for that- not to you or anyone. I remember going to bed hungry at night. I remember when my folks would struggle to send me to school-the sacrifices they made- the time-the effort. Instilling in me the ideal that education is power. To suggest that somehow because I am educated, I am not a true Grenadian or not "from the country" is downright despicable and disgusting. Never make such a vague and indistinct assumption. Never be so stupid as to assume that you are a better Grenadian. We are all true Grenadians-educated or not. Some by blood- some by heritage and some by birth. Like I previously said, you are nothing more than a self-indulgent,narcissistic crypto-fascist masquerading as a patriot. If you didn't understand what I just said then get a dictionary-learn- be educated too. Grenada will be better off. Grenadians work hard- the farmer- the fishermen- the market vendors. They may not be smart assess but they make a vital contribution just as you and me do. They are just as concerned about the nation. Gabe you need to wake up from your deep sluggish slumber, lose that foolish mentality. Education is power. Grenada and Grenadians will be powerless without education.

MITCHELL IS HISTORY AND WHAT EVER HE DID WRONG SHOULD BE INVESTIGATED,AND ANY WRONG DOING SHOULD BE DEALT WITH.THE POLICE SHOULD INVESTIGATE WITHOUT FEAR.I AM HEARING SO BAD THINGS HERE IN GRENADA ABOUT THE NDC.FIRST THE PRIME MINISTER MUST MAKE IT CLEAR THAT HE IS IN CHARGE.A WEAK LEADER WILL ONLY CAUSE CONFUSION,GOSSIP AND LACK OF RESPECT TO THE OFFICE.THESE TWO FOOLS DAVID AND BURKE SHOULD KNOW THAT THERE IS ONE LEADER TILLMAN THOMAS,HE SHOULD KNOW EVERYTHING.THEY HAVE TO UNDERSTAND THAT THIS IS NOT A REVOLUTIONARY COUNTRY ,KNOW YOUR ROLE AND DONOT SHOW UP THE PM.THE AIRPORT RENAMING IS A GREAT THING,BECAUSE THERE WERE VISIONS FOR IT BUT BISHOP MADE IT A REALITY.BARBADOS CANNOT CUT STYLE ON US ANYMORE.I WILL LIKE TO SEE THIS ADMINISTRATION SUCEED,BUT I WILL BE WATCHING HIM LIKE A HAWK.

Gabe you are a narcissistic fascist, you remind me of the neo-cons in the US who still believe Obama is part of a Muslim plot to overthrow the US government. I have never met KCM, neither do I work for him. Furthermore I have been critical of his polices and corrupt agenda for years. I fully supported this new administration. However, actions they have taken-namely the announcement of the renaming of the airport in point salines to a Cuban audience before Grenadians were aware have left me convinced that they are no different that KCM's administration. They seem to be lost in limbo and continue the same non-transparent approach to governance. They are hypocrites- all politicians to some degree are. The point you are making about this British levy is non-nonsensical and ridiculous. KCM as you just said is the opposition. He neither has the onus or authority to negotiate any levy-period. It is the responsibility of the new administration to show some balls and reject this policy. The effect it will have on the tourism sector is enormous. Presently, tourism is the only sector of the economy that brings in notable revenue. Having this policy as K said will stifle Grenadians. Air Jamaica is the only reliable carrier from the northeast US. This is why its the duty of the government to stand up and fight for Grenadians-home and abroad. They are the ones with the authority to do that- not KCM. Gabe the election is over-Grenadians decided. Get over it. let go of the animosity because what your are saying borders on absolute insanity.

I think this baggage policy is out of hand.Because this airline is the only airline that goes grenada direct. We grenadians have to stand up for our self and our country. They are not doing that to Jamaica because they have competetion.Let us unite grenadians for ourself and our country.
