From the New National Party (NNP) Thursday 22nd October 2009, St. George's Grenada: The High court in Grenada indicated to Mr. Anslem Clouden, the lawyer for George Worme, Grenada Today Ltd and others that they must pay Dr. Keith Mitchell EC$191,000 plus costs by Tuesday 27th October 2009, and that if the monies are not paid by then, the Court would proceed to give a winding up Order and the Company will be liquidated. The matter which came up before High Court No. 1, was an Application by Petitioner, Former Prime Minister Dr. the Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell for an Order that the Company publishing the Grenada Today Newspaper be wound up or liquidated on the grounds that it cannot pay its Judgment debt owing to Dr. Mitchell. The background to the Application is that The Grenada Today newspaper published in 2001 a letter written by Steve Fassihi which called the then Prime Minister Mitchell corrupt, a criminal and incompetent. Mitchell sued George Worme and the newspaper company, and a Judgment was handed down in 2003 awarding Dr. Mitchell $120,000.00. The award was appealed and the Court of Appeal increased it in 2004 to $191,000.00, inclusive of Costs. To date George Worme and his Company have refused to pay a penny towards the liquidation of the debt; and so, Dr. Mitchell applied to the Court for the winding up of the Company. Worme is not above the law, neither does he have a license to libel anyone. He must pay or the Company must be liquidated. Mrs. Winnifred Duncan-Phillip was the lead Counsel for Dr. Mitchell and Mr. Dwight Horsford appeared in association with her.

How corrupt can the high court in grenada be to insist that, that thief keith mitchell be given a quick settlement against george worme, when there are others who won cases during the keith mitchell regime for many years now and never received a dime, even when numerous letters were sent to the high court. Nothing was done, since the culprits were friends with his cabinet. People are still waiting for settlements but to no avail. Wake up grenada and what is good for the goose is good for the gander. God is not asleep. I can name names of people who have been slighted by the high court, but for now will not. Keith Mitchell does not deserve a penny. If the High Court can insist that Keith Mitchell gets a pay off why can the see justice done for others.

The newspaper should not give Keith Mitchell a penny. Anyway where is the freedom of speech, he claims to support.
