FORMER YOUTH MINISTER DISGUSTED WITH THE ACTIONS OF THE...
click
St. George's, Grenada: Former Minister for Youth and NNP Caretaker for St. Andrew’s South East Mrs. Emmalin Pierre says it is painful the way that young Debra Phillip of Hope, is being treated by the current administration and states it is unfortunate that she is now the victim of a political game which started years ago. According to Mrs. Pierre she has never been and will never be an advocate for squatting and believes that the situation now facing the Phillip family is enough to show that politicians must be prepared at all time, whether in government or in opposition, to support the same principles and put people first and not their own political agenda. She said in an effort to gain political support, members of the NDC while in Opposition encouraged various persons to squat on Government lands and in some cases when they were given notice to move by the previous administration even after being provided with alternative housing, members of the NDC including the current Chairman of the Housing Authority demanded that Government provide the best housing and all other amenities for those concerned. Mrs. Pierre says some squatters must not be more equal than others and believes that Ms. Phillip and her six children should be supported by the Government in acquiring a piece of Government land with the basic facilities where she can live without fear of having to rebuild her home a third time. Mrs. Pierre is also expressing concern for a family in Moon Shadow Park, Grenville. She said since receiving final notice, that family has not been able to relocate due to financial difficulties nor been able to secure adequate help from the NDC administration. The former Youth Minister cited this as yet another lesson for the need for politicians to be truthful with people at all times regardless of the political consequences. She recalls that when the New National Party Government made efforts to relocate the same family some years ago they were encouraged by members of the current Government not to cooperate with the authorities. Now she said these same families were given orders to move from the lands by the same individuals who are now unprepared to provide them with adequate support needed. Mrs. Pierre says all she is asking is for the NDC administration to assist all the families in the same way they had advocated that the previous administration should. FORMER YOUTH MINISTER DISGUSTED WITH THE ACTIONS OF THE...

The action by the NDC administration to demolish the home of a pregnant single parent mother and her six children is an inhumane act. When you listen to the junior minister of Housing Senator Glen Noel, you will hear him saying this loud and clear. He was right to order the men to rebuilt the house forth with. The issue of squatting on government lands has been around for a very long time, and while I am not advocating this practice, the powers that be have to find solutions that is just and humane. Playing the blame game will not help the issue. Gabe, as I have told you before, you are not residing in Grenada and cannot feel the pains of the people. But then again, who can take you serious with your postings. You have been writing untruth here. To attack Mrs. Pierre with these lies is the same you have done on me before when you say I ran in the last General elections. If you have to oppose go ahead but don't try to deceive the readers of this site. I am very convinced you are not concerned about the poor people of our country. For a 62 year old man I expected better of you. Your choice of words are despicable. There are young people who come on this site, thats the example you are setting before them. Shame on you. Ms Sheila Jones, judging from your name it appears you are a woman. It is common for a woman to understand the plight of hurting children. The issue here is not Mrs Pierre, its the treaatment of the six helpless children. And even if Mrs Pierre was apart of the process that cause the woman to squat as you claim, if this was wrong we should not make it worst by throwing the children on the streets. To support this callous act is worst than what you are accusing Mrs Pierre of. Find a place in your heart to give love to the less fortunate. This is not about who you support, its about people.

Mrs Pierre, keep quiet. It's your party that encouraged this type of disregard for the law. While you were trying to win the election in 2008 you should have told her to move her house, just like your supporter in Caliviny who youall give material enough to build the Hilton Hotel on the Community Centre and playing field
