MINISTER REITERATES GRENADA AN “EXTREMELY SAFE’’ TOURIS...
St. George’s, December 31, 2011 – Tourism Minister Peter David has said that Grenada remains an “extremely safe destination’’ for visitors, adding that government intends to keep it that way. He made the comment in response to questions about the potential impact on tourism of the death of Oscar Bartholomew. The 39-year-old Grenadian, who resided in Canada and was visiting his homeland with his Canadian-born wife, died at the General Hospital where he was taken following an altercation with officers at the St. David’s Police Station. Officers of the Criminal Investigations Department of the Royal Grenada Police Force, who are conducting a probe into the Boxing Day incident in St. David, have so far charged two policemen with manslaughter in connection with Bartholomew’s death. “This is a tragedy on all counts, especially for the Bartholomew family,’’ said Mr. David, who is also Minister of Civil Aviation and Culture. “Like all Grenadians, including all my colleagues in government, we would have preferred this not to have happened to anyone, particularly to a national who was visiting with his wife,’’ the minister added. “But from the perspective of visitor safety, and in comparison to other tourist-dependent nations of the world, Grenada still is – and will continue to be – an extremely safe destination for travelers from around the world.’’ The Bartholomews’ legal representative in Grenada is lawyer Derick Sylvester. He said Bartholomew’s mother and his wife, Dolette, had expressed interest in meeting with government representatives. The lawyer said he was successful on Friday in setting up a meeting with Minister David, who talked with Bartholomew’s mother and wife. Mr. David conveyed his sympathies to the couple and their families, and again extended government’s condolences that were first expressed earlier in the week by Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas. For Sylvester, having the Minister David meet with the two grieving Bartholomew family members was “a step in the right direction.’’

Littleboy, have you ever gone to listen to cases at the Grenville courthouse? There's a male judge who you would not want to go before on a Mornday morning. They guy acts as though he is still under the influence of alcohol/hangover. And there's a female woman who calls herself Attorney Clyne (not sure of the name). She might be in her late 40s or 50s. I don't know where she bought her law license from but she should not be in a courtroom defending anyone. This Attorney Clyne or whoever she is does not have a clue about legal and defense affairs. Our people sure need help! She cuts her hair low. She might be gray now. Something is definitely wrong with our legal system. Littleboy, we need to address every social, cultural, educational, economical and legal matter whenever we can. Me have got to expose some of these people so that their true colors are known. It might be our way of helping those who are at these people's mercies.

Littleboy, unfortunately, our population is too easily bought and sold. Yes, we need an independent body that would be empowered to monitor the activities of the RGPF, politicians, legal system and watchdog of the people. Unfortunately, our people are all tainted, fragile, broken, selfish, unethical and immoral to lead out in such a radical, peaceful and revolutionary way. The more power one places on our people's head, the easier it is for them to succumb to be bought at a given price. Our people know fully well that violation of any laws in Grenadian, especially where corruption is concern has no repercussion. Therefore, politicians, judges, members of the RGPF, business folk to the ordinary person on the street will risk anything to make a dollar, even if it means selling their souls. As long as it's not happening to them, then they could care less. It sure would take someone like us with bawls and guts to stand up to those money hungry soul selling rogues. For example, what do you think happens to RGPF Coast Guard officers and officers on the street or who do drug raids and investigate crimes? They tamper with evidence, steal the drugs, guns, contraband, bank robberies, rape and child molestation cases and may sell whatever is necessary on the streets and compromise case evidences. Thus rendering judges like Tamara Gill with no other option but to release those charged serious offenses back onto our streets. Little boy, things will never change unless the people begin to demand social change and justice.

Observer I think this can be solved quite easily. The Idiot Prime Minister we have here needs to assign one or more independent personnel as legal officers to keep, hold, take charge off, be solely responsible for, and in charge of, independent of the POLICE DEPT until called for and returned by the legal system the courts for containment under a special WATCH. As for my friend Gabe I am so disheartened by him, He appears to be a yes man. To improve we have to make changes and I mean changes for move us forward. I cannot see us moving forard by any of Gabe's methods, but he appears to be a decent fellow. However decent people do not win ball games. You have to work and work hard for improvement. I am in St.Kitts Observer, but I am very involved in Grenada in every way you can't ever imagine.

Littleboy, I am very please you have finally decided to take on Gabe on his one side views. At the same time, I wish to reiterate that Judge Tamara Gill methods of sentence is fully based on the backs and responsibility of our government and RGPF. Judge Tamara Gill's rulings on certain cases can be attributed to RGPF officers tampering with eye witnesses, materials and evidences relevant to cases. Are you aware that some of our RGPF officers often temper with cases for pay offs, are you aware that material evidences usually disappear? For example, guns, drugs and contrabands seized by the RGPF Coast Guard often disappear or are stolen by unethical officers assigned to the Coast Guard and sold on the streets of Grenada to the highest bidders? My brother, many offers assigned to the coast guard and police stations are afraid to come forward to expose those that are corrupting the RGPF. Our PM nad RGPF Commissioner are fully aware of what's going on. There are RGPF officers who are afraid to come forward, brother. They're afaid for their lives and family safety. Our country- Grenada does not have in place any protective mechanism to assist those who might be willing to blow the whistle on internal criminals. Also, those who may choos to come forward would be shunned and barred from promotion. With such operating system in place, our RGPF would would forever remain corrupt. To verify my findind, please talk to local officers whom you may know or come into contact with. You may also do so with those who have resigned or fled to America, Canada and England. You want to move up in the force, then turn the other way when you see corruption, theft and tampering with material evidence and eyewitnesses to critical cases, including murder.
