St. George's Grenada, Monday 13, 2012- Work is well advanced on The Greater Grenville Project where dozens of workers from St. Andrew and other areas have gained employment. Coordinator of project Patrick Martin said that quite a bit of work has been done on the Market and many people have been able to gain temporary employment. He indicated that as many as 60 or 70 workers have been involved daily on the project now into its sixth month.
In spite of the positive progression, Martin said that there are have a few setbacks, which have not hindered the progress. Martin said "modifications to the original plans were necessary for the project to be oriented properly with the existent buildings in the background, but it can be described as minor as work is progressing smoothly."
As part of the project, an abattoir that is being built in Mirabeau by Classic Designs- a St. Andrew based Construction Company. The Project Coordinator said that "the intensity of work has increased during the build up to August, and as a result the contractor expects his workforce to increase."
He added that although the contractor was somewhat behind schedule, the evolution of the project is satisfactory. Bids for the third component of the project- the bus terminus are now being analyzed and the no-objection was also received from the CDB on a modified plan which will allow work to begin on phase one of construction, which will produce a terminal with minimal functionalities.
