GOVERNMENT GETS FLOORED IN PARLIAMENT
It was a real knock out blow for Prime Minister Tillman Thomas and his governmental colleagues in Parliament on Friday 20th July last. The government failed in its bid to pass the Insurance (Amendment) Bill 2012 in the House of Representatives. This phenomenon marks the first time in the history of Grenada that a government in piloting a bill through parliament was deprived of majority support when the votes were counted. The votes in favour of passing the bill was five and those against was six. The Leader of the Opposition Dr. Keith Mitchell led the way in showing that the measures which were sought in the bill would create additional financial burden on the backs of Grenadians who are already suffering under dire economic conditions. This is so he said, because whatever payments that would be extracted from Insurance companies by government, the ordinary folks in the country would be made to bear the financial burden by those companies. Dr. Mitchell was ably supported by other members of the Opposition in addition to support given by Hon. Michael Church and Hon. Karl Hood. Other members belonging to the government side such as Hon Peter David and Hon. Glynis Roberts failed to make a showing in parliament. This is surely a sign of things to come as the split in the ruling party becomes wider and wider. It seems to be a foregone conclusion that in the very near future the government would not be able to pass any money bills in parliament and this would certainly lead to a vote of no confidence in that administration. The time seems to be fast approaching when Prime Minister Thomas would have no alternative but to request the Governor General to dissolve Parliament and set a date for general elections. Grenadians deserve to be relieved of this political melee.

All Grenadians should welcome this Bill. By defeating if, is the Opposition showing concern for the poor people of our country? Already many of us have lost substantial sums of money at the hands of the greedy and corrupt, e.g. CapBank. Building and Loan Association, Clico, to name a few. No investigation, no action. Such a Bill would deter further occurences. It is always the poor who are at the mercy of of the financial institutions we trust to secure our hard-earned investments. Think again . As I see it, it is the person who introduced the Bill they are against; not the Bill itself.

Bro.Littleboy i hear you but the sad thing about all this is the fact that both these M.P. have so far failed to address the issues as to this bill and it is this -Tell us what other measure have they and their buddies in the NNP have to put into law that would stop/prevent any future financial company or fly by night investor from doing exactly the same and vetting thoes investors coming into grenada and showing our government 100k dollars claiming that they want to invest in our country wellfare then half way through they then run out leaving our people to be burden with the balance of payement(several past history)has shown that to be under the last government, and as to the reason given for voting against this bill as said by the leader of HM OPPOSITION,i find his quote very strange and maybe he will now address the nation and tell us as to what Law He,Church and Hood would put in place to stop these wantom abuse by some of these rogue financial investors from robbing our people of the hard earned life saving, because it is fair to say that grenada has suffered in this particular sector while under the stewardship/Government of the leader of HM OPPOSITION and it is dammed shame that two members of the ruling NDC party should see fit to gang up with the opposition in voting out this bill. Dear Pastor Garraway as a man within the inner knowledge of the workings and mind set of the opposition i /we need your heavenly input please enlighten us lay people as to why these M.P. and the opposition voted against this bill. one love.

Gabe forget about Hood, Church, Peter David, Gilbert and the others. Dey are dead meat. Peter David had it in his mind to ruin Grenada a long time ago. One could tell when he re-named our Airport after Bishop and announced it in Cuba first. I did not see anything wrong with the origianl name of that airport. I wish we could ship Peter David's ass over there in Cuba to stay. As for Grenadians if they go back and vote for Mitchel's party after all the mess he has done in the past, they deserve everything they get. I hope and wish Tilly gets some new frsh young blood on board, I bet some of these young guys would do better than these old ass thieves we have here who are in it for their pocket books. You know Gabe I have always said this from the start way back. I say what I mean, and I mean what I say.

Greetings Bro,Joe and Bro.Stallion and my Bro Little boy again you guys brings to this forum a breath of freshness and plain speaking and we Grenadians are lucky to have people like you guys coming and putting things straight down the line and telling it as it should be told because i trully believe that this two guys are the king pins paired with the other turn tails and is hell bent on disrupting and destablising the NDC Government/party by their constant mischief making and stirring up trouble and as the saying goes a bad egg is a bad egg and yes i do now agree with Stallion that PM.Tillman Should have seen this coming a long time back and the recent action by these two fellows shows that they and the likes of them should not be trusted with the mantle of being or running our country for their actions shows that the are the by product of that Butcher COARD and his henchmen and grenada and our people will be a much better place/country without these people because their actions shows that they will never learn and their loyalty will always be in question as to what are they really doing for Grenada and it is high time that Hood and Church explain to grenadians their true reasons for voting with the opposition to kill that bill which it is said is meant to protect and guard our people and at the same time marshall the financial sector from any wtong doing and then one listen to Hon Hood reason for voting with the opposition is surely baffling therefore gentlemen grenadians await your true reasons for ganging up with the opposition to kill this bill.

I applaud Nazim Burke, P.M Thomas and the other politicians who have a conscience to at least think about protecting Grenadians from VULTURES posing as businessmen/women. I do not need to mention the long list of culprits. Those BASTARDS will never be forgotten. Poor Grenadians have been ripped off too many times in the past and any bill to stop such crookedness is a step in the right direction and also LONG OVERDUE. Can Keith, Hood, Church and the other cry babies tell Grenadians "what they propose to stop the REVOLVING DOOR of crooks roaming the Island and acting like Grenada is part of their backyard? Or, are some of those cry babies part of the old problem; Offshore Banks, Cap Bank British American .......etc. etc. etc.? Since Hood states "it makes no sense" according to the articles I read, can he explain to Grenadians what the hell he thinks makes sense to stop those CROOKS? I hope folks like Hood and Church are not being paid by tax payers because they seem to be useless or non-productive as politicians. It's time that the cry babies like Keith, Hood & Church grow up, act like real adults and do something for the good of Grenada; HELP STOP THE BANDITS POSING LIKE BUSINESS FROM STEALING GRENADIANS MONEY. This is the year 2012 and we are supposed to be Independent therefore we shall dictate the terms of doing real business in Grenada. Folks who wish to do business in Grenada are not planning to help Grenadians. They simply want to make MONEY. May God bless Grenada.
