GOVERNMENT GETS FLOORED IN PARLIAMENT
It was a real knock out blow for Prime Minister Tillman Thomas and his governmental colleagues in Parliament on Friday 20th July last. The government failed in its bid to pass the Insurance (Amendment) Bill 2012 in the House of Representatives. This phenomenon marks the first time in the history of Grenada that a government in piloting a bill through parliament was deprived of majority support when the votes were counted. The votes in favour of passing the bill was five and those against was six. The Leader of the Opposition Dr. Keith Mitchell led the way in showing that the measures which were sought in the bill would create additional financial burden on the backs of Grenadians who are already suffering under dire economic conditions. This is so he said, because whatever payments that would be extracted from Insurance companies by government, the ordinary folks in the country would be made to bear the financial burden by those companies. Dr. Mitchell was ably supported by other members of the Opposition in addition to support given by Hon. Michael Church and Hon. Karl Hood. Other members belonging to the government side such as Hon Peter David and Hon. Glynis Roberts failed to make a showing in parliament. This is surely a sign of things to come as the split in the ruling party becomes wider and wider. It seems to be a foregone conclusion that in the very near future the government would not be able to pass any money bills in parliament and this would certainly lead to a vote of no confidence in that administration. The time seems to be fast approaching when Prime Minister Thomas would have no alternative but to request the Governor General to dissolve Parliament and set a date for general elections. Grenadians deserve to be relieved of this political melee.

Hi Joe or whoever you be, you gone hiding. By the way, its rather strange the mighty Gabe who seems to have an answer for every issue even if he is making a nuisance of himself has disappeared and has left his sidekicks or clones to struggle on for themselves. 'Gabe, wey you dey.'

Joe, as I was saying all along, to be credible and relevant, you must know what the bill says and is seeking to accomplish. The bill is not seeking to gain authority for regulation as you erroneously trying to perpetuate. You should have known that for the head of GARFIN Mr. Smith said so. As a matter of fact the excellent regulatory framework upon which Garfin was established and is recognized highly for in the ECCU territories was set up by the former government (NNP). What you need to find out is what the bill is seeking to achieve.

Pastor Garraway, I never knew you were a big joker. I haven't read the entire bill but as I stated any attempt to put something in place that will prevent local and foreign CROOKS from ripping off Grenada is a step in the right direction and long overdue. If you can't understand that then something is wrong with you. I can read and analyze. I can see why you are defensive. Some of the skullduggery took place during your NNP reign. Please tell Grenadians what you and your group propose to stop the BANDITS. That's what's important. Why should Grenadians pay lazy politicians who are talking and talking but doing nothing for the good of the Island? They should all be fired.

Here we go with Pastor Winston Garraway and his nonsense again. Pastor some of us do have brains, and we are quite able to think for ourselves. You remind me of some of these fellows out there telling one what the Bible says, and then one goes to the text from where the quote originated, and there is nothing, absolutley nothing, not even a parable associated with what some of these jokers say.

I seriously think we need to go to a referendum and bring back the hangman. We need to rid Grenada of these criminals. Too many chopping, we need to go to some neck breaking. Enough is enough.
