ANOTHER GOVERNMENT MINISTER RESIGNS
Environment Minister Glynis Roberts on Thursday submitted her resignation to Governor General Sir Carlyle Glean. This is the latest resignation to hit Prime Minister Tillman Thomas’s ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) government since April, following those of Tourism Minister Peter David and Foreign Minister Karl Hood. In a statement accepting Roberts's resignation as environment and foreign trade minister, PM Thomas offered no reason for her decision to quit but extended best wishes to the former minister. The Prime Minister has been under pressure for weeks with a no-confidence motion tabled in Parliament against him by Hood. Earlier this week Thomas requested the Governor General to prorogue Parliament, effectively causing the motion to be dropped from Parliament's Order Paper whenever the sittings resume. Roberts previously served as Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation; Minister of Labour and Ecclesiastic Affairs and Minister of Social Development. She is Member of Parliament for the constituency of St. George South. Explaining her decision to a local journalist, Roberts reportedly said her decision wasn't influenced by any of the backbenchers in Parliament. With general elections constitutionally due in Grenada by July of next year, political observers are following these events keenly.

Stallion but someone has to do something, and ah know for dam sure it wont be me. A man would be a fool to put himself in that situation with all the incompetents around, but seriously I think Tillman means well and he seems to be an honest fellow, just a little weak and thats all we have man, so you know and realize now why I have been saying all along we need this fresh young hearts. We need to put Keith Mitchel in a hole in the ground. Thats where he belongs with all his followers around him too.

my bro.littleboy,i agree with your assessment of keith mitchell.i too believe that they are all thieves.but if you see my postings, there is none where i endorsed keith as the next prime minister.as i have always said, keith did a good job of keeping the prime minister on his toes.he did an excellent job as the opposition.but tell me whom will be the alternative to these thieves?we need a new party with fresh blood.my point is that the prime minister did not keep his promises.he did inherit a bare cupboard and he was not left much to do more for the country.but he knew that before he took office.he made baseless promises knowing there was no money.as i said again,he can't blame no one but himself for the crisis he is in.

Stallion, how did he mis-manage the pension for seniors? Do you know that for sure. Keith Mitchel and his gang spread so many lies around? What about all the debt they placed us with in Gda and all the corruption? Where would that money for the pensioners come from? Don't ever believe what you hear? open your eyes and see whats taking place all around you? Sometimes your eyes may deceive you? just look at Keith Mitchel's past performance and history and that's all it takes. His habits, his ways, his lies, his deceit, his corruption, theft and mismanagement. Is that what you want for Grenada. Stallion come on man, use you head, I know you know much better than that.

my bro.gabe, all that you said about embarassing the prime minister may or may not be true, but the fact of the matter is that the grenadian people get to decide who forms the next government.all those rogue ministers you said that resigned, they too have to face the public next election.so i don't see the difference it makes who wants to destroy the party.and may i add, just because they turn thier back on the prime minister doesn't mean they are destructive.its a difference of opinion on where they see the country going.as i say again, the prime minister can't blame no one but himself for his failed and broken promises.

Bro Stallion to add to your last postiing it is fair to say that in any given democracy a member or members of government may from time to time disagree with certain measures /change of policy in government with government and again that is part and parcel of being in government ,but my brother what has been happening recently with these five or so ex ministers by deliberately resigning their post and sitting on the back bench served notice as to their real intent and that is to unseat the ruling government and that is why there was and has been talk of quote A Confidence Vote hoping that some members of the opposition will side with the so called rebels and that my friend, is their true motive for i dont believe that these rebels members are aware of the real danger and discord that they are inflicting on the people of grenada and the sister isles by the self interest egos especially at a time when there is a danger that their action could result in the incoming of that rouge bunch ,my dear friend stallion for to long our people were fed on handouts without these politicians telling them when and how the country was going to pay for these handouts, and when the now opposition was rejected at the ballot poll in 2008 and this government is in power they the opposition and now with some friends in the ruling party(the backbenchers) started planning methods on how to disstablised with a view to bringing down this governemnt and that is the real problem we now face. This has nothing to do with democracy for they are just power mad, hell bent on destroying grenada with the intent on taking us back to thoes bad old days where party are ruled by enticing voters with handouts instead of educating them on the real meaning of one man one vote for the betterment of all our people and not just for the vested interest so bro Stallion my call to these rebel backbenchers is to resign your seats and take it to the people by having a by election on their true mandate and in that way we as a country and our people will know where we stand in terms of their policies. one love.

so how can we say it was their real intent to embarass the prime minister?and how can you say that the prime minister has no support to move the country forward?he had all the support when he won.he had a majority.instead he raised the vat,re-named the airport, mismanage the pension for seniors, raise tuition, among other things.how can the grenadian people have confidence in the prime minister when he making their life more difficult?hey guys,if you ask anyone on the street if the country has moved forward, you know what the answer is.

Good Morning Bro.Stallion & Littleboy yes while i will agree with some aspect of the bro Stallion posting my point is that these ministers choose to do what they are now doing knowing way back what their real intent was and in a democracy as ours it is disgraceful in action i say this because David,Hood,Church,Gill, and now Roberts had all along had their motives and that was to embrass the Pm because maybe he knew the direction that they wanted to take the party and it is no different from the policies of Bernard Coard and in my book they the renegrades should have done the honourable thing and resign their seats and fight a by-election on which ever party/mandate they intend to fight come the next election not stay on the backbench and make mischief while at the same time dis-stablizing the goverment with their negative actions hoping that with a vote of no confidence in the governing party they will then grab control from the PM which has been their intent all along and thats why i say that they the rebels should be watch and their behaviour monitored for this is very undemocracy for this is not what the voters had in mind when they cast their votes for them at the last election and i for one is very disapointed with the action of David for he was the one person i really thought had good in him when it comes to getting grenada and our people unto the next level knowing how the opposition had hounded him when he first won that seat but then may be even the opposition knew more about him(his track record) than Tillman because it is now clear that he is the gang leader of the rebels and thats why they should resign their seats and call a by-election in other words Put up or Shut up. one love.

Stallion how can he do the right thin when he has no support? Don't you see what the traitors are doing? Tillman needs to run with fresh new young blood. I have always this. Keith Mitchel took us in debt for 15 years. Tillman has only been in four and a half and all the idiots quit on him because he was trying to move Grenada forward. He was also dealt a bad hand but look at the others who had their own agendas at heart. They have not stood by him or supported him as each one wanted to do his own bidding. I say he has to come back with fresh new young people who has not been ever involved in politics before. What do you think about that Gabe?
