FORMER GOVERNMENT MINISTERS AMONG SEVEN EXPELLED FROM N...
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, Sep 30, CMC – Seven members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) including General Secretary Peter David and trade unionist Chester Humphrey have been expelled from the party. The other members who have been banned include former cabinet Ministers Joseph Gilbert, Karl Hood, Arley Gill, Glynnis Roberts and disciplinary committee member Siddiqui Sylvester. Supporters voted overwhelmingly to expel the members at Sunday’s annual convention of the (NDC) in the eastern parish of St. Andrew’s. David, the former tourism Minister, Hood, the former foreign affairs minister and ex environment Minister Roberts resigned from the cabinet in recent months citing differences with the four and a half year old administration of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas. The Prime Minister recently ordered the proroguing of parliament in an effort to avoid debate on a motion of no confidence against his administration filed by Hood, the second one in recent months. Gilbert was fired for writing to American investors promising them a casino license without cabinet’s approval while Gill was sacked in the aftermath of David’s resignation. Former Government Minister Phinsley St.Louis reportedly moved a motion for the party delegates to expel the seven members including Humphrey who are all known supporters of David. The rampant infighting within the ruling NDC has put a side led by Prime Minister Thomas against a group led by David in ongoing episodes of political drama. The decision to expel the seven members, in their absence, came shortly after acting chairman Pastor Stanford Simon, was thrown out of the convention. NDC supporters voted overwhelmingly for Pastor Simon to be removed after executive member Vincent Roberts moved a motion calling for his expulsion. The highly anticipated NDC convention, postponed from July, begun with a tinge of controversy as Simon arrived to jeers from some party members. Some NDC members were heard shouting to pastor Simon that he was not welcomed at the convention which is taking place at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School. However, Simon believed to be a supporter of General Secretary Peter David, had begun chairing the meeting ahead of the vote to elect a new executive. Chief of staff in the Prime Minister’s office William Joseph has taken over as chairman of the convention. Education Minister Franca Bernadine is tipped to become the new chairperson of the party.

Well now we know who will be contesting the next election against the ruling NDC Government of the R.H.Tillman Thomas and is it not funny how these people came into office on the trusted votes for the grenadian people and no sooner in government they then show their true colours (political prospectors) out to make a fast buck once again on the backs of the very poor here in grenada and one has to take a good look at them (the bunch)for are they really true grenadians concerned for the betterment of our people or are they simply in the business to feather their own political nest, how sad that as a people we are still embedded in political corruptions ,yes we are forever and will forever be fighting each other like mad dogs still trying to reach the apex on our political ego and when i look back on some of the quotes from the great Marcus Garvey it brings home to me some heart rending truth and that is we as a people will be forever looking and looking but will not unite and speak with one voice,a voice that says enough is enough and why cant we ever be united, for here in grenada our history indicates that we will forever be unsure of what our destination is because of our constant inter political in fighting where each one thinks that he is better the ruler than be ruled for in our current prime minister we have a man of trust but around him as is proved recently there are judas and plotters, and high stake players hanging around, bad talking, disrupting, and all in the name of political power hungry with little regards for the well being of our people but is in it only for their own political egos ,when are we going to learn my god when are we going to ever learn, first we had Gairy, but he was always in the pocket of the estate owners, then bro.Bishop (a good man well intended ) but he was put down by Coard and his buthers, then we had Mitchell did some good but got greedy and believed that he owned grenada to do and say as he likes, then Bro,Tillman and here we begins to believe that at last we have a decent, and a good man but we were slow in keeping an eye on thoes within his party who was planning ,to abort/jump ship because their egos would not allow them to unite and work with him and his government their government and all the time the trusted voters is being taken for a ride by these political prospectors my god when are we going to learn here in grenada when are we going to stop this in fighting and work together as a family to rebuild our country my god when are we going to learn why cant we put aside our difference and work together for our old ,sick, poor, unemployed, when are we going to learn.. Grenada god bless you. one love
