FORMER GOVERNMENT MINISTERS AMONG SEVEN EXPELLED FROM N...
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, Sep 30, CMC – Seven members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) including General Secretary Peter David and trade unionist Chester Humphrey have been expelled from the party. The other members who have been banned include former cabinet Ministers Joseph Gilbert, Karl Hood, Arley Gill, Glynnis Roberts and disciplinary committee member Siddiqui Sylvester. Supporters voted overwhelmingly to expel the members at Sunday’s annual convention of the (NDC) in the eastern parish of St. Andrew’s. David, the former tourism Minister, Hood, the former foreign affairs minister and ex environment Minister Roberts resigned from the cabinet in recent months citing differences with the four and a half year old administration of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas. The Prime Minister recently ordered the proroguing of parliament in an effort to avoid debate on a motion of no confidence against his administration filed by Hood, the second one in recent months. Gilbert was fired for writing to American investors promising them a casino license without cabinet’s approval while Gill was sacked in the aftermath of David’s resignation. Former Government Minister Phinsley St.Louis reportedly moved a motion for the party delegates to expel the seven members including Humphrey who are all known supporters of David. The rampant infighting within the ruling NDC has put a side led by Prime Minister Thomas against a group led by David in ongoing episodes of political drama. The decision to expel the seven members, in their absence, came shortly after acting chairman Pastor Stanford Simon, was thrown out of the convention. NDC supporters voted overwhelmingly for Pastor Simon to be removed after executive member Vincent Roberts moved a motion calling for his expulsion. The highly anticipated NDC convention, postponed from July, begun with a tinge of controversy as Simon arrived to jeers from some party members. Some NDC members were heard shouting to pastor Simon that he was not welcomed at the convention which is taking place at the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School. However, Simon believed to be a supporter of General Secretary Peter David, had begun chairing the meeting ahead of the vote to elect a new executive. Chief of staff in the Prime Minister’s office William Joseph has taken over as chairman of the convention. Education Minister Franca Bernadine is tipped to become the new chairperson of the party.

Governments change, sometimes for the better and sometimes for worse, with that said,I believe that some people have short term memory and for our country to be in such a state it must be that way.Mitchell was in power for Thirteen long years and we live through his corruption, his fight against the press, his half developement of only part of St,George's his cunniness and hi jacking of the RGPF as his personal security,we were in debt to everyone that had money even crooks.Let us fast forward we get a government with the most honest Prime Minister you could ever ask for and what happens the gang of four and their socalled supporters wants to derailed the progress,it reminds me of Bishop who had Grenada at heart and here comes Coard and his gang to derailed it,is history repeating its self?are we cursed to be in that position?are some people like David has to be part of plotting to get rid of good people?the more things change here the more it remains the same.To the people that are calling for change ,I want to remind you that governments will not make your life better, its a game, get up and be innovators and producers and stop partying and looking for the best clothes, rum and cigarettes and do something that will develope Grenada and yourself.

This is good news. While I do agree with the dismissal of the traitors, I only hoped it had happened earlier to give Tillman some time to get us aquainted with the new people before the next election. I think my man Tillman is now on the right track, and now that the bad apples are gone, we will see a new fresh team with young hearts. Congratulations are in order brother Tillman Thomas. I only wish we could put these fellas back in the jailhouse where they belong, and now we must move on and do the right thing. Gabe we ok now boy.

Bothers Listen and others please be minded of the language and name calling and brothers let us as educated men and women contribute positively to the debate so that others can be enlightened with the topic of the moment and not revert to negative postings ,bro Listen you may not like Tillman or his style or his presentation as leader or the policies of the NDC ,but my friend right now he is the right man to lead our country a man who is trusted by other world leaders men and women as is seen over the last four years he is the man world leaders wants to do business with my friend Listen during the last few months our country little grenada and its people and leader has been hailed as a country others wants to follow and it is part down to the way in which grenada is now being promoted, contrast that to when the opposition was in control (check back the stories that was coming out of grenada at the time)remember the dammed money is mine remember the call centre,so my friend Listen which grenada do you want a grenada where passport was being sold to thoes who comes to our shores with a few bucks in their back pocket,a country where our old, poor, farmers, shopkeepers, was duped into putting their hard earned saving into Cap Bank and again the rest is history all this was done under the leadership of the leader of the opposition and his government so bro Listen ,Grenadians i hope would like to see a grenada that carries its self in truth and decency by a government that puts the interest of all our people first, a government that will educate and informed all its people and in doing so have in government ministers who will respect the wishes of the voters and the rules of government. one love.
