In everlasting memory of Mr Anthony Thomas aka ''Tam'', the former husband of Ms Joyce John of River Sallee. An aspiring father to: Ethel, Desmond, Davis, Katherine, Dennis, Theresa, Kathleen, and Pauline. Step-father to: Phillis, Veronica, Lucille and Bernadette. The brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather to many in England and Grenada. Sadly Mr Thomas passed away on Wednesday, 11th July 2012 in London, England at the age of 86.
''Tam'' was born on the 18th December 1926 to Uryas Thomas and Sylvia George. Tam was the third sibling of five children and originated from Rose Hill, St Patricks, Grenada. Prior to leaving Grenada in the early 1960's for England, Tam worked in Plains Plantation as a labourer. He often told various stories of how he worked the land. Upon his arrival in the cold weathers of England he worked as a street environmentalist then progressed to working at Euston Station as a Shunter a position he held a passion for until his retirement in the 1980s.
It is said that the good die young, however granted his place in the kingdom of Heaven at the tender age of 86, ''Tam'' was a fun-loving gentleman, who was full of life and known to all his younger generation as ''granddad''. ''Tam'' embraced everyone he came into contact with – his children, the family he inherited and friends; treating them courteously and in turn received the utmost admiration. Although ''Tam'' enjoyed a good debate, he never lost one and so could never be faulted on his opinion that includes supporting Arsenal football club.
''Tam'' may your soul rest in the peace of the Lord. We shall all meet with you again some day, just as you have arrived in the Lord's home to meet with all who have gone before you. We trust the dominos and cards table have been receiving some hard pongs!!!
Gone but not forgotten and always loved ''Tam''/''Granddad''.
