Special Info  Dorine Dorothy Williams (affectionately known to her family and loved ones as “Aunty Dorine”) was born in the town of Sauteurs on the island of Grenada on April 17, 1938. She was the third of seven children born to Ms. Henny Williams. Her father was Sydney Noel. Dorine lived in Grenada her entire childhood and her early adult life. She loved music, dancing and most of all cooking. Cooking was something that came natural to her and that talent led her to working in several restaurants including Bamboo Bar in the island’s capital of St. George’s. It was in Grenada, that she gave birth to five children. In 1972, Dorine migrated to Aruba in search of better opportunities for her and her children. She quickly found employment as a child care provider and cook in Aruba, sending money home to help ensure her children did not want for anything. Dorine remained in Aruba for nearly a decade until she migrated to Brooklyn in 1982 to join many of her family members. While in Brooklyn, she worked as a home health aide and child care provider. Dorine was a fixture at family functions, commanding attention with her deep voice and boisterous laugh. Dorine would also face several physical challenges. She was a diabetic and suffered a major heart attack in her mid 50’s. The latter would rob her of her ability to enjoy some of the things she was best known for, like taking long walks from her home at East 42nd street to Flatbush Avenue, cooking, going record shopping every Saturday evening, entertaining and visiting loved ones. As she grew older, she was relegated to the home that she shared with her dutiful and dedicated daughter Ann Marie Noel. On, Tuesday, January 3rd 2017 at the age of 78, Dorine Dorothy Williams succumbed to heart failure and departed this life for one in heaven, from where she will dwell in our hearts and memories forever. Though she is gone, she will never be forgotten as she will live on through her surviving siblings, Quita, Stella, Carol and Monica. She also leaves behind her five children, Allison, Anne Marie, Michael, Janice, Rosalie and her son-in-law Clement and ten grandchildren, Anderson and his wife Savitri, Samantha, Amanda, Lisa, Shevonne, Kelly Anne, Princess, Jamal, Kayla, Thora and five great-grandchildren. Dorine’s spirit will survive through a large loving family. Her family consists of many nieces, including Christiana and Gina, numerous nephews, cousins and family friends. We would also like to thank her dedicated home attendants Ms. Green and Ms. McKenzie who cared for Dorine as they would their own mothers. And of course we extend our gratitude to all those individuals who visited her at the hospital and at the nursing home as she battled the illness that eventually ended her time on this earth.
