OPPOSITION LEADER VERBALLY ABUSED BY NDC ACTIVISTS

GRENADA:- The New National Party wishes to convey its disgust with the treatment meted out to the Leader of Her Majesty’s Opposition Dr. the Right Honorable Keith Mitchell at the Ceremonial Opening of the first session of the eighth Parliament of Grenada on Tuesday 19th August 2008 at the Grenada Trade Centre.
Dr. Mitchell was verbally abused on several occasions immediately after the opening ceremony by three known operatives of the National Democratic Congress namely former parliamentarian Michael Baptiste, Lawyer Anslem Clouden and newspaper editor George Worme.
The NNP views this behavior with grave concern as it comes immediately on the heels of the refusal of the NDC Administration to return his official passport which contained his visas.
This also follows the total removal of the security detailed to the former Prime Minister on the day the new Prime Minister was sworn in and the silent victimization of several workers within the Public Service of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.
The NNP calls on the NDC to encourage its supporters to work to maintain the peace and stability of our country one in which all Grenadians are free to express their political preference in a free and fair environment.
