July 19th , 2010 President and Members Grenada United Labour Party Dear Brothers and Sisters, GULP is certainly a dynamic, amazingly powerful organization, with its fundamental legacy engrained in the hearts of its followers. In fact I have learnt more about myself and the world around me from these last few years (4). I do hope and pray that the future of GULP remains a promising one. My love for its followers and philosophy will continue to abide deeply within my heart and would certainly shape my future contribution to Grenada. I have entered the fray of politics during a business meeting with Dr. Braveboy and Br. Nedd was present, it was Br. Nedd who started the conversation and enabled me to meet with Reynold Benjamin, the then Party Organiser. These last, almost four (4) years have been some rough roads but very rewarding. In fact I have absolutely no regrets, it was never by intention to get involve in active Politics at this stage , it was Benjamin who convinced me that I can make a contribution, I accepted willingly because it has been a dream of mine to serve after I have retired when I am financially and educationally sound. I thank these gentlemen, for affording me my greatest learning experience, that today has shaped my life in unforeseen and profound ways. The future of GULP is really in the hands of a few key people that must resolve the issues of the past and unite under one voice to take the party forward. The members have a critical role to play in the way forward for GULP. Its members must speak the same voice, seek to build each other, seek to protect each other, politics is made up of mere men trying to fashion a country. Absolute respect for its leadership is crucial, support is absolutely necessary. Men at all levels must commit to the same cause. If GULP is government in waiting then, we must behave that way. I must say I am grateful for all of you and the support that has been given to me! Br. Canning, Br. Hayes, Br. Norris, Sis. Langdon , Br. Cyphus and all other members who have given me support by prays and in your thoughts. The general public has given me tremendous support as well and I appreciate from the bottom of my heart. The job of Political Leader is not a difficult one for me, in fact is one I love and there is no question in my mind that I can lead this country and continue to give the Grenadian people, hope. I have a twenty five year plan for this country and do believe there is hope for Grenada. I do believe that one day this country will flourish and poverty will be vanquished and the voices of the people will be heard. I do believe that great men and women will rise up and take this country forward, men and women with clean hearts whose intention is to serve. However there are many intricacies that must be resolve in GULP if GULP should be in Government and the need for me as Political Leader to be more adequately prepared financially, educationally and otherwise. In fact I have since applied and awaiting my formal letter of acceptance ,to pursue a PHD in Industrial and Organisational Psychology at the Central Michigan University. My course of studies will take two and half years in the first instance. I also have a number of personal projects that I wish to do at this time that requires my time and would help me better prepare myself as a leader. I am currently in the process of publishing my first book by September of this year. Due to these fundamentals that I feel will allow me to be a better person and certainly a better leader that includes very importantly focusing on family and church. These time consuming personal ventures, necessary pre-conditions, as a leader, will incapacitate me at this present juncture to perform fully as Political Leader of GULP. It is important to mention that I am also managing the only Job Center and Employment Agency on the island , my only source of income at this time which has been suffering due to my preoccupation with carrying out the function of Political Leader. Therefore I am asking the executive to please accept this letter as a formal relinquishment of my Position as Political Leader of GULP , effective August 15th, 2010. Granting me this time will certainly in the future work in the best interest of GULP. I am prepared to continue to work, with GULP in any other capacity as the executives wishes. I am thankful for the optimism and opportunities afforded me as Political Leader and do hope that all will work well with the party in the interim and the future as well. May God Bless Grenada. Best Wishes --------------------------------- Mr. Collin Francis Political Leader
