ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada: The next election in Grenada is expected to be announced today, the 20th anniversary of Marxist leader Maurice Bishop's assassination, as the island's governing New National Party wraps up its 19th annual convention, which began yesterday, AP reported.
Caribbean leaders, from Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago, have gathered to hear the island's prime minister, Mr. Keith Mitchell, announce the date of general elections.
The convention comes at a time when Mr. Mitchell's party enjoys wide spread support and the opposition's only member of Parliament faces fraud charges.
