GULP LASHES GOVERNMENT APPOINTMENT

The opposition Grenada United Labour Party says it is opposed to the government's attitude of appointing active politicians to some key positions inside and outside of Parliament.

The party has been raising a fuss over the appointments to the office of Governor-General, Speaker of the House of Representatives and the President of the Senate.

"We want to get back to the position where those officers are like Caesar's wife - above reproach - that people must have confidence," said Reynold Benjamin the party's political leader. "We must restore the confidence in our legislature and in the office of Governor-General".
