KARL HOOD AND THE NDC FORCES NNP INTO ACTION

The National Democratic Congress St George's South East constituency group's plan to rebuild the house of Herman Lallion in Belle Plane got an unexpected boost Saturday – from the New National Party.

Mr Lallion was identified by the group as needing assistance, and his house was down to be rebuilt during National Service Day work projects on Sunday.

The elderly gentleman was on TV welcoming the planned assistance from the NDC. However before the NDC work team could have arrived, workmen came to his door on Saturday saying they were there on behalf of the ruling NNP to rebuild his house.

Mr Lallion has been living in a tarpaulin-made house for three years since Hurricane Ivan destroyed his original home. "I want to thank the NPP for finally, after three years, understanding their social responsibility by helping Mr Lallion," NDC's constituency representative Karl Hood said when asked for a
response.

"Maybe we should continue the urgent social projects so that they can quickly get their act together, and do the kind of stuff they have been neglecting for years," Hood added.

Mr. Hood said among the urgent needs of the area is the rebuilding of the Day Care Center in La borie, which his team hopes to tackle soon.

"But we won't mind if in their panic the NNP rushes to get it done. That will be fine, once the people benefits. Heaven knows that La borie needed the center like yesterday," he said. "In the end this is not about politics, it is about helping people," Hood said.
