INDEPENDENCE MESSAGE FROM PULP

The Following is an Independence Message from Mr. Winston 'Winty' Frederick, Founder and Political Leader of PULP

February 06, 2011:

The People’s United Labour Party (PULP) embraces this special occasion to wish Grenadians, both at home and abroad, a happy 37th Independence Anniversary.

The journey towards our Independence has not been an easy one and was fraught with many challenges and pitfalls. At the time, many had deep reservations and strong apprehensions about our future as an independent nation.

As we now look back over the past 37 years, we should feel proud to know that we have been able to make it this far, in spite of the tensions, conflicts and fallouts that are an integral part of our post-independence journey. PULP salutes the work of our Father of Independence, Sir Eric M Gairy, and all those who have contributed over the years towards the building of this beautiful nation of ours.

The PULP welcomes the achievements that we have made as a nation since our Independence in 1974 and promises to make our Independence celebrations more impressive than we have seen before when it gets into office. Such celebrations will involve Grenadians from all walks of life irrespective of race, religion or political affiliation because PULP believes that Independence celebrations are for one and all.

PULP calls on the government to urgently put the necessary structures in place to strengthen our social and economic pillars which will lead to greater empowerment of our people. Also, PULP will like to see greater emphasis placed on the holistic education of our people, especially in local history, because a country cannot rise above the educational level of its people.

May God richly bless us all and may He bless this country!

Thank you.

From Winston "Winty" Frederick
Founder and Political Leader of PULP
