By Lyndon St Cyr
In the first book of the Bible, we are told that man is made in the image and likeness of a being, which is totally above and beyond any fleshly entity.
The concept of a supernatural being, with a personality and unlimited power cannot always be proven empirically. That is the reason many people have rejected that God exists.
On the other hand, how do you explain the sense of wonder and awe we experience when we look up at the starry sky? Why do we long to know what is beyond the heavens?
If we came from nothing and are ultimately returning to nothing, then why do we cry when a loved-one passes on? Why do we miss them so? These experiences we have are real, and faith in an unseen, personal, caring God provides the most meaningful explanation for the existential circumstances we face.
In Genesis 1:26, the Bible says, “Then God said, Let us make man in our image, in our likeness and let them rule… over all the earth.” My faith in a supreme God offers great inspiration and strong intrinsic motivation to live life to the fullest, even amongst the challenges of the present era.
I invite you to make that step of faith today.
