By Lyndon St Cyr.

Empirical proof for religious experiences may not necessarily be the only way these circumstances be judged. This type of proof, by its very nature, assumes that all experiences should yield results that are interpretable through science.

How then do we explain faith-healing? How do we react to persons who say ‘I prayed and God helped me succeed?’ Can we explain, scientifically, the positive out-workings of prayer?

It is in this light I suggest that there must be an alternative method of scrutinizing and or explaining our existential experiences. That method is faith. Interestingly, even the most respected scientist must believe that his experiments will yield viable results or else he’d never experiment in the first place.

Faith is defined in the Bible as ‘….the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen…’ (Heb. 11:1)

The writer to the Hebrews seem to place much value on hope. Recent researches have shown that people of strong religious faith live 10 – 12 years longer on average. Other figures reveal that in the United States, individuals that have strong religious faith are healthier, stay married longer and are usually better prepared to face the challenges life metes out to us each day.

One song says that “Faith in God can move a mighty mountain, Faith can calm the troubled sea.” Will you exercise your faith in the HOLY ONE today? Trust HIM for your salvation and the forgiveness of sins.
