By Davis Joseph

A family from Grand Bras, St. Andrew’s, is upset with the police following an early morning raid on their premises over the past weekend. The police allegedly entered the house, read out a warrant and proceeded to conduct a search for illegal drugs.

One family member claimed that nothing illegal was found on the premises, and therefore, the search was futile. The owner of the house is of the view that the police may have had the wrong information or they may have visited the wrong house.

This is the first time the family has had such an experience and they believe that this could be a work of malevolence and spite orchestrated by someone. According to the family, “We are law abiding citizens and do not have a need for being involved in illegal activities such as illicit drugs, therefore, the police should recheck their information, before conducting their raids.”

The police is said to have conducted raids in a number of other areas in St. Andrew’s over the last weekend. These raids form part of the overall strategy of the police force to significantly reduce on the amount of illicit drugs and activities in the country. It is not known at this time how successful the raids were.
