LA DIGUE St.Andrew's: Key Strokes Community Computer Programme, in collaboration with the Holy Innoncent’s Anglican School under the Digicel Caring Connections sponsorship, held its programme launch at 5 p.m. on Thursday April 20, 2006 at the Holy Innoncent’s Anglican School in St. Andrew’s .
Among the persons attending the programme launch were Hon. Yolande Bain Horsford – Parliamentary Representative for St. Andrew’s South West and Minster of Social Development; Ms. Lisa Francis, Marketing Manager of Digicel; and Ms. Patricia Felix, Area Education Officer in the Ministry of Education.
The highlight of the launch was the address by Ms. Sherry Tynisha Noel, the director of Key Strokes. In her address, she spoke about her vision for the community, the work that was done in the area and the things that need to be done to continue to make the programme a reality.
Leading up to the programme launch was the recruitment meeting, held on Wednesday April 12, 2006 at the Holy Innocent’s Anglican School. All persons who turned out to the meeting and who satisfied the selection criteria secured seats in the 2006 classes.
The first computer class starts on May 2, 2006 and will run for two months. Two additional classes are planned for 2006 - August and November respectively. Interested persons can still register and persons who have forms in their possession can submit them to the Holy Innocent’s Anglican School to reserve seats in the August or November classes.
