Relative of deceased thirty-four years old Earl ‘Wild-away’ Julien of Paraclete, St Andrew’s, wants the culprit who is responsible for his death to be speedily brought to justice.

Julien died at the General Hospital some time last week as a result of head injuries. The decease is reported to have been struck repeatedly on the head with stones, by another man from the village, with whom he had an altercation last Thursday.

It is understood that during this altercation, the deceased allegedly struck another teenager in the area (the accused) with a cutlass. The man who received the lashes from the cutlass left the area and promised to return but did not. It is widely believed that this encounter may have given rise to the incident at the river, which later resulted in the death of Julien.

Julien was allegedly struck on the head while he was in the vicinity of the Paraclete River. It is reported that Julien collapsed after receiving the injuries to his head and had to be rushed to hospital where he subsequently died.

Meanwhile, eighteen years old, Shane Ramdeen, an unemployed youth from the same village, was arrested and charged in connection with the Murder of Julien. Ramdeen appeared before magistrate Oforiwa Augustine at the Grenville magistrate court last Monday, in the midst of a large crowd, armed members of the police force, and a courtroom crammed to capacity.

A charge of Murder was read to him but he was not allowed to plead. Relatives of the accused were seen crying in court. Barrister at law, Peter David, who was not present in court, represents the accused. Barrister at law, Nazim Burke, spoke on behalf of Peter David. The deceased is survived by two sisters and five brothers. He was last employed as a carpenter.
