*Restraining order delivered against Ex-boyfriend*

A young man from the village of Mt Fan, in the parish of St Andrew, had a restraining order issued against him at the Grenville Magistrate’s Court last Friday. He is now ordered to stay over two hundred yards away from the plaintiff, his ex-girlfriend, who is still scared.

According to the plaintiff, she was forced to take out a restraining order against her
ex- boyfriend, who allegedly broke down the already erected structure of her unfinished house. Additionally, he had thrown her clothes out ‘on the roadside’ and had made threats on her life. In response to these grave developments, she was forced to seek the assistance of the commissioner of police.

The victim said that she was forced to live elsewhere because she was very frightened. She also alleges that she had visited the Grenville Police Station on numerous occasions and had complained to the lawmen about the situation many times before action was finally taken.

*Chopping incident in Telescope*

A young man from the village of Pearls, St. Andrew’s, is presently hospitalized and is in a critical condition after sustaining serious chop wounds to his arm last Sunday. The victim, who was recently released from prison, is alleged to have attacked another man in the village of Telescope. According to sources, the man from Telescope is said to have acted in self-defense when he inflicted the chop on his attacker, who later became the victim.

It is not clear as to what started the conflict but both men were engaged in a heated altercation when the victim repotedd1y threw the other man to the ground while holding a knife in his hand. Another man is reported to have gotten involved as a ‘peacemaker’ at this stage and ‘parted’ both men. The source said that the man with the knife continued to charge the other man who then got hold of a cutlass and proceeded to inflict the chop wound to his attacker’s hand. The ‘chopped victim’ was later rushed to hospital.

The matter is currently in the hands of the police.
