RE: JUNIOR CALYPSO WORKSHOP

The Grenada Carnival Committee continues its series of Jr. Calypso Workshops with two sessions conducted this past weekend. On Friday a follow-up workshop was held at the Mc Donald’s College with the young Calypsonians venturing further into song writing as preparations for the 2006 Carnival season intensifies.
On Saturday May 13th, the juniors of St. John’s had their follow-up workshop with the numbers once again being very impressive. The young ones continue to demonstrate a firm grasp of the concept of song writing and story-telling.
The St. John’s Social and Cultural Organization has already begun its plans for what should be a very intense junior competition in the parish.

The Grenada Carnival Committee will continue the workshops up to and after the 2006 Carnival season with the focus been on generating interest in the art form and the overall development of our young people.

Already, the Jr. Calypso Competition promises to be a much better event with wider participation from around the island and better quality songs and performances.
