Disaster Sub-committee formed In Morne Longue

MORNE LONGUE, St. Andrew’s: On Monday May 15, 2006, members from the NaDMA District Executive for St. Andrew’s NW visited the Morne Longue village to oversee the election of officers to form the Morne Longue village disaster sub-committee. The function was held at the Morne Longue Pentecostal Church.
The turnout was commendable and the villagers showed keen interest in the information that was disseminated to them and participated enthusiastically in the elections.
A disaster sub-committee was formed with Mr. Anthony Copin as the Chairperson and Ms. Earlrica Phillip as his deputy. Other members of the newly elected executive are:

The members of this new executive were briefed on their duties and responsibilities and were encouraged to work assiduously to ensure that the village is in a state of preparedness should some hazard impact the area.
So far, the St. Andrew’s NW District has visited many villages in the area to help establish village sub-committees. A number of activities have also been planned throughout the twelve villages making up the district to mark Disaster Preparedness week (May 14 – 21).
