PEARLS, St.Andrew's: Hundreds of residents throughout the village of Pearls and surrounding areas took to the streets of the historic village in a carnival like atmosphere last Sunday to celebrate the beginning of the ‘Pearls Day’ fiesta.
Residents appeared as masqueraders with painted bodies, dancing and chanting songs as they followed a truck, which carried the disc jockey, throughout the village.
The first part of the event ended close to the Pearls airstrip. Later that evening, the celebration continued with a number of cultural events and a ‘Block- o- Rama’ session. Music was supplied by a popular disc jockey while drinks were sold from the bar set up by the organizers of the function. An attempt to get the views of the organizers on the success of the fiesta, however, proved futile.
