By Davis Joseph (St.Andrew's correspondent)

GRENVILLE, St. Andrew's: A number of police officers attached to the Grenville Police Station are expressing some concern over the apparent delay in the resumption of work on two important buildings in the town of Grenville: the Grenville Police Station and the Grenville Magistrate’s Court.

Work started on both buildings sometime last year, but for some undisclosed reason, work seems to have halted. The first work phase, which includes the replacement of the roof on the main building of the Grenville Police Station, is completed. It is not clear as to the reason why the second phase is yet to start nor is it entirely certain as to when it is scheduled to start.

Although some officers still make use of the main building in its current condition, it is not quite appropriate for use. One officer complained that there is no ceiling and exposed wires are clearly visible overhead.

There is still plenty work to be done on the inside of the main building which includes the charge room, the office of the inspector in charge and the divisional officer’s office, while the upstairs section which officers utilize for domestic purposes is in a dreadful state. The adjoining building, which houses the Traffic Branch and the Fire Department, has not yet been given any attention.

The lawmen will like work to resume on both the police station and the magistrate’s court as soon as possible so that they can once again operate fulltime from within these facilities.
