CATEGORY: RELIGION -------------------
By Lyndon St.Cyr
If we are to make any progress, be it academic, social or financial, we must be willing to find out the original purpose for us being here. A man’s life, then, is seemingly incomplete if he does not diligently seek his source. It is incumbent upon every human, therefore, to seek out truth and to submit to it when it is found.
The Bible provides for us the best foundation for the truth. The Psalmist declares
“O send out thy light and thy truth, let them lead me..” Ps. 43:3
This statement by the Psalmist suggests that truth and enlightenment come from an external source, namely the Creator. In the same passage he postulates that light and truth leads to “… thy holy hill..,” a place of worship.
In the Gospel, Jn. 1:17, we see that the law was given by Moses but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. In today’s world the person of Christ has become one of the greatest stumbling blocks historically. But can one deny the multiple testimonies of the destitute who came to Christ and found new life and comfort? Or even the many prophecies already fulfilled? These testify to the integrity of the Bible. If the Bible can be trusted who are we to reject the statement that grace and truth comes by Christ?
Since the Bible is trustworthy in its declarations we should therefore be willing to submit to its truth. This willingness demands that we give up all previously held philosophies and firmly grasp the logical and spiritual presuppositions of Holy scripture. It was G.K. Chesterton who said:
“the tragedy of disbelieving in God is not that a person ends up believing in nothing, but it’s much worse…..a person may end up believing in anything.”
And you shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free. Today if you hear his voice harden not your heart. Enjoy you week
