MORNE JALOUX, St. George's: The Village of Morne Jaloux in Southeast St George’s last Sunday (Mother’s Day) paid tribute to one its most senior citizens, Miss Elaine Pivotte. It was a double celebration for Ms Pivotte, who on Mother’s Day also celebrated her 100th birthday. Several villagers spent the special occasion with her chatting and recalling moments of the past, which were very much appreciated by the centurion.

She received several gifts from the Ministry of Social Development, the NNP Southeast Women’s Group and villagers. They were in the form of food baskets, a Fruit Basket, Bouquet of Flowers, toiletries and a lovely birthday cake. Parliamentary Representative the Hon Gregory Bowen was also present and provided music on the guitar for the singing for the occasion.

He wished her the very best and told her that the government will be providing monetary assistance to make the remainder of her life more comfortable. Ms Pivotte thanked everyone for making her mother’s day and birthday truly special and praised the almighty father for affording long life and strength. She was in the best of health, which is a fitting tribute to her niece Theresa Pivotte, which been taking admirable care of her and her 91 year old sister Costilda over the years.

Retired public servant Cephas Pilgrim who worked at the government Printery is a close family of Ms Pilgrim. He is a cousin. Cephas told The Grenadian Voice that the longevity is not happening by chance, since it runs in the family. He said that their grand father Thomas Mitchell of Springs was 99 when he died and that another close family Ms Louisa Mitchell was 110 years when she passed a way five years ago.
