ST.PATRICK’S, Grenada: Three young children, Akida (12), Shariya (5) and Shermaya Oliver (2), who tragically lost their lives earlier on this month after a fire gutted the house in which they were asleep, were laid to rest on Tuesday June 27. This calamity took place at Glebelan in Sauteurs, a village located to the north of the island in the parish of St. Patrick.
The untimely and heartrending incident had sent the entire country in a state of mourning. As expected, there was a large crowd at the funeral to offer their support and condolences to the bereaved family members. The scenes at the church and burial sites were very touching and there was hardly a dry face to be seen; almost everyone was in tears.
It is believed that the three siblings had died huddled together on their beds. In death, as in life, their love and closeness to each other was maintained. They were all buried in the same grave so they can remain together.
Grenadianconnection will like to offer its most profound condolences to the family of the three deceased children. Additionally, we would like to urge all parents and guardians to always ensure that their children are under the care and supervision of responsible adults when they are at home, especially during the night time.
Photos of the Funeral are compliments of Paul Phillip.
