GRENVILLE, St. Andrew’s - The ‘Miss Heritage Queenshow’, which was organized by the promoters of the Rainbow City Festival, took place at the Grenville Market Square on Monday August 07, 2006 (Emancipation Day).

Even though heavy downpours of rain interrupted the event, sizeable crowds turned out to look at the seven beautiful contestants vie for the Miss Heritage 2K6 title. The seven contestants represented seven African countries:

· Kenya – Miss Kanesha Jeffery
· Zimbabwe – Miss Kathy Ann Lyons
· Nigeria – Miss Dessime Peters
· Ethiopia – Miss Leonie Patrick
· Egypt – Miss Nathalie Williams
· Ghana – Miss Wendy Adonis
· South Africa – Miss Dessian Peters

Each of the young ambassadors performed with merit and was well-received by a very accommodating and appreciative crowd. At the end of the function, the title of ‘Miss Heritage 2006’ went to Miss Nigeria (Dessime Peters). The first runner-up was Miss Zimbabwe (Kathy Ann Lyons), and the second runner-up was Miss Egypt (Nathalie Williams).

Miss Dessime Peters (Miss Heritage 2006) will be getting some spending money coupled with a trip for two persons to any Caribbean destination she chooses. This was made possible through the kind compliments of LIAT. The second place contestant, will be getting a dinner for two plus electronic paraphernalia from the Flamboyant Hotel and Kumar’s Department Store while the third place contestant will be getting free cable connection plus spending money from Grenada Cablevision Limited.

Miss Renee Moses, who currently holds the title of ‘Miss Teen Grenada’, crowned Miss Dessime Peters. Ms. Moses will be representing Grenada at the ‘Ms. Teen Universe’ in Barbados on August 27, 2006.
