ST.GEORGE, Grenada - The insinuations behind the remarks by Attorney-General Elvin Nimrod that the NNP Government expected the ruling that was given in the Peter David case are yet another clear attempt by the NNP to intimidate the Judiciary. So says Attorney-at-Law Dr. Francis Alexis.

Dr. Alexis notes that Dr. Lloyd Bernett QC, distinguished Constitutional Lawyer, presented the court in the Peter David case with several judgments from various Commonwealth Courts proving
conclusively that the procedure adopted by the Attorney-General in the Peter David case was completely wrong. By contrast, the Attorney-
General could not produce a single case supporting the procedure he used, Dr. Alexis observes.

Therefore, any expectation by the Attorney General that the Court would uphold the procedure he followed is wholly absurd, Alexis says.

Dr. Alexis notes that in several recent cases, High Court Judges in Grenada have ruled in favour of the NNP Government and NNP Ministers. Examples are the Queen's Park Green Bridge case and the Yolande Horsford case. In no such case was there talk of the Judges being biased. But when NNP loses a case, NNP rushes to accuse the Judges of bias, unjustifiably, frivolously and vexatiously. The Peter David case is such an instance, Alexis observes.

This persistence of NNP in frivolously accusing Judges of bias shows that NNP is intent on intimidating and muzzling the Judiciary, to
overthrow the rule of law and install the rule of the Cabinet. This, says Alexis, is always a sure sign of a disposition to dictatorship.
