WORK ON STADIUM RING ROAD TO BEGIN SHORTLY

CATEGORY:CONSTRUCTION
----------------------------

By Wallace J (Inside Grenada correspondent)

GRENADA – According to a news release from the Ministry of Works (located in Tanteen, St.George’s) dated September 27, 2006, the construction of the Stadium Ring Road – leading to the Gravel and Concrete buildings and the Grenlec Power Station – is scheduled to commence soon.

The Ministry, in its release, has made a request for all obstacles that are currently in the road to be removed within the next two-week period. This is obviously to smooth the progress of constructing the road, which is of paramount significance if Grenada intends to meet the requirements for successfully hosting the ICC 2007 Cricket World Cup which will be played in the Caribbean from March 11 next year. Grenada will be one of the host venues for the games and apart from having its National Stadium ready, Grenada has to also ensure that all the other supporting structures are in place.

The scope of the work entails the construction of drains, sidewalks and the surfacing of the road. Against this background, the Ministry has made an appeal to the residents and workers in the area, as well as the users of the road to be understanding in this regard since the project is expected to result in a lot of noise, dust and delays while traversing this area.
