G B S AWARDS CEREMONY 2006

CATEGORY:AWARDS
--------------------

CITATION:METROLOGY

This is an Award that is given to the organization that shows the most interest in having its measuring instruments calibrated.

This year this award was won by Southern Fishermen Association.

Based on the Metrology Act of 1997, all weighing and measuring instruments used in trade must be verified, stamped and calibrated by the Bureau of Standards once per year in order to ensure fair practice in trade. In most cases, the Bureau takes the initiative to ensure this is done.

In the case of Southern Fishermen Association, they recognize the importance of this law. As a result, their Manager, Mr. James Nicholas, always take the initiative to call the Bureau of Standards to have all new scales verified as well as to ensure that those that are already in service are calibrated. That’s not all. If a part is needed for a particular scale, he will make every effort to get this part in the shortest time to ensure the scales are working properly.

For this, the Grenada Bureau of Standards recognizes Southern Fisheries Association for their remarkable work.
