TELESCOPE, St. Andrew’s: The SAASS playing field at Telescope, St.Andrew’s was the venue for the Republic Bank sponsored Inter-Secondary School women soccer competition on Tuesday October 31, 2006
Some five female soccer teams, representing secondary schools around the country, turned up at the playing field to do battle against each other. The first game was between St. Joseph’s Convent (SJC) Grenville and the St.Mark’s Secondary School (SMSS).This game ended in a 0-0 drawer.
The second game was between the host school (SAASS) and the Boca Secondary School (BSS). SAASS won that game 1-0. The goal scored for SAASS came in the form of a penalty and the young lady who found the back of the net was Lyndonna Rennie.
The third game for the day involved the Happy Hill Secondary School (HSS) and the Westerhall Secondary school (WHSS). WHSS did not show up giving HSS victory by default. The girls from SJC, however, decided to take another run for the day and played a friendly game against the girls from HSS.
There was a large crowd gathered on the playing field to witness the football matches among the various secondary schools. The games proved to be high in excitement and entertainment value.
