ST.GEORGE’S, Grenada – Wednesday November 08 has been set aside as the date for the final consultation on the 2007 estimates of revenue and expenditure. This consultation is scheduled to take place at the Trade Center, St.George’s and will begin at 9 a.m.
The session at the Trade Center on Wednesday will be in the form of a group discussion. Some of the areas that will be explored during the deliberations are:
• Agriculture • Tourism and Cultural Development • Health • Education and Civics • Energy and Climate Change • Youth and Sport • Private Sector Development • Rural –Urban Migration • Cost of Living and Safety Nets • Sustainable Development
A number of non-governmental organizations, corporate bodies, groups and individuals are expected to participate in this symposium. Already, officials from the Ministry of Finance have visited the different parishes throughout the island to get people’s views on various aspects of the budget.
The 2007 estimates of revenue and expenditure is scheduled to be debated in the Houses of Parliament next month. The theme for this year’s budget is: Consolidating growth, enhancing revenue and providing safety nets for the vulnerable.
