CATEGORY:EXPANSION --------------------------
PRESS RELEASE
THE GRENADA AIRPORTS Authority is endeavoring to develop and deliver a high level of services to the traveling public and to airport users while providing a safe and secure environment. To that effect the Authority has embarked on a major expansion program to upgrade its facilities and services to the required international standards. The extension and remodeling of the Point Salines International Airport which is currently being undertaken by the Airports Authority in excess of ECM$15, will lead to the reconfiguration of the terminal building, creation of additional ticket counters, increase passenger space in both arrival and departure areas and reconstruction of additional VIP Lounges. It will also involve the relocation of the existing public car park to be in compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) and the Transport Security Administration (TSA) recommended practices and procedure. These works are considered critical to enable Grenada to maintain its presence in the World Tourism Market and in the air transportation arena, by placing Grenada's airport within the top of Caribbean Airports. To help finance these developments the Grenada Airports Authority will be introducing a concourse fee of $15.00 per passenger effective December 1 st 2006. This fee will be collected at the Service Charge Booth at the Point Salines International Airport. The Grenada Airports Authority reiterates its commitment to ensure the safety of all passengers while bringing the airport to a level that will make all Grenadian proud.
