NDC’s Power Play is to doom Grenada.

EDITOR'S NOTE: This article represents the views, policies and vision of the New National Party (NNP) headed by Prime Minister Dr. Keith Mitchell. The NNP has been in office since 1995 - for three consecutive terms. In the last general election, the NNP won 8 of the 15 seats that were contested.

NDC has no real interest in the development of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Matnique. NDC is willing to destroy Grenada as an act of conquering the NNP Party. Everything good that is done for Grenada is criticized by the NDC, and anything bad said about the country is supported by them. They use their platform of Negativity to advocate world-wide that Grenada is not a place to visit or conduct business with. They are extremists that will do anything in their desperate attempt to slander and taint the image of our country. Is that responsible Opposition? Can these ‘Opportunists’ be called Patriots? Can they be viewed as credible Opposition? Can they be Trusted?

Their strategy to ‘gloom and doom’ Grenada so that the masses would side with them against the Government is not only an attempt to prevent productivity and development; it is an attempt to character assassinate hard working, committed and progressive Grenadians. It is also an attempt to incite social unrest; it is an attempt to do the bidding of their mentors in prison: it is the ugly fact that they are a desperate and misguided group of extremists bent on seizing power through country-damaging means.

The NDC has spent its time in Opposition witch-hunting, directed by a misguided bunch of lawyers that concentrate their time and efforts to ‘Accuse – Try – and Convict’ people that stand in their way via media. This comes under the guise as the legal element of their character assassination network. Because of their preoccupation with slander, there is no time for them to serve and protect our beautiful country. What is very disconcerting is that they continue to prey on our vulnerable citizens who from time to time are captivated by their preconceptions and skepticism.

How can we depend on these pretenders to lead us when they refuse to conform to the Grenadian way-of-life? Firstly, they do not truly respect or intend to abide with the Democratic System we are all happy with. They covertly intend to reintroduce their outdated agenda by subtly imposing their Marxist-Leninist views on us if (God continue to protect us) they ever get into power. These guys are still stuck in the ‘text’ of their readings and refuse to adjust to the realities of life.

The pretext that they are reformed and have found Christ is a façade as well as being blasphemous and is an abomination.

How can anyone who does not believe in a particular system of life be given the responsibility of governing such? That is the absolute contradiction!

In spite of NDC’s bad Public Relations on Grenada, The Government has been able to attract major investment initiatives. That is on the basis that the Government has demonstrated its commitment to holistic development which incorporates – infrastructural development, social stability, economic growth, and untapped resources - that has drawn international attention.

Since the unfortunate take-over of the NDC Party by these misfits, senior members of the Opposition do not have a real voice in the Party’s decision-making process. They are out of touch with the ulterior motives of the Rogue Lawyers who are on a mission engineered from elsewhere.

The number of progressive initiatives taken by the Government that was subjected to damage-campaign by the Opposition is staggering:

• After Hurricane ‘Ivan,’ when Housing became our priority, our Government approached the Government of Trinidad and Tobago for help and was able to negotiate a soft loan agreement. The Opposition voted against the loan in Parliament citing some insignificant reasons. Then Mr. Tillman went to Trinidad and other funding agencies abroad, at Grenada’s time of critical need, telling them that Grenada is corrupt and they should not sent aid. It is important to note that the same people that were claiming corruption were asking for joint-leadership at the same time. Why would one want to be a partner to corruption? Contradiction ‘for-so.’

• Because our Prime Minister played a major role in landing Grenada as a host member of the internationally acclaimed Cricket World Cup games in 2007, they opposed. First they did not want the National Stadium built. Then when they realized that they were not getting much public support they switched to suggesting that the Stadium should be built elsewhere (Mt. Hartman) in their hope that if accepted the construction on a new site would not be ready in time for World Cup. They even propagated that the Stadium was sinking and under water and the Chinese were not going to build on that site. In their dirty, desperate final attempt, they tried in every way to contort damaging stories in the international media to have Grenada disqualified. They also tried and continue to try ‘stall tactics’ in their failed attempts to delay works on the Stadium project. They attempted to manufacture a paint colour controversy which also failed.

• When cement shortage was an issue and impacted the construction industry, Government undertook the responsibility of assisting accordingly. NDC attempted to create an issue of mistrust by woefully claiming that the process of selecting the agent was flawed. These are the same people that advocated that the Government should do something about the shortage.

• When Government decided that a proper Government Information Service (GIS) was necessary and NDC opposed in spite of the fact that our citizens have the right to know what is going on in the country.

• They went against the Government’s appointment of a Youth Minister, then advocate that the concern for our young people should be a priority.

• They held a major rally over the erection of a billboard – attempting to agitate a particular behaviour by vulnerable persons…a display of irresponsibility at its best.

• They opposed the NIS purchase of the Cinnamon Hill property. Government recognized the value of Cinnamon Hill and encouraged the purchase. NIS made a healthy profit from the sale of the property. Two things are apparent here: (1) The profit from the sale has made more revenue available to NIS for servicing the nation. (2) And made sure that Grenada’s asset returned value for money.

• There are countless examples of NDC’s desperate damage ploys…too many to list.

The harsh reality is that the NDC has no interest in the development of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martnique.
