Tricia Thomas is new spa director at Spice Isle Beach Resort

GRENADA (Dec. 13, 2006) –Spice Island Beach Resort in Grenada has appointed Tricia Thomas as the new Spa Director of the resort’s full-service, 5,600 square foot Janissa’s Spa.

Bringing over ten years of experience in numerous high-end luxury chains in both London and the Caribbean, Thomas, a Grenadian, will oversee all operations at Janissa’s Spa and will grow the spa’s list of in-house and local clientele by presenting new and inventive spa therapies.

“Ms. Thomas has an impressive professional background and has studied at some of the most prestigious beauty schools in the world,” said Sir Royston O. Hopkin, KCMG, chairman and managing director of Spice Island Beach Resort. “She is an exceptional addition to our staff, and her insightfulness and creativity will help to enhance the already spectacular experience guests can expect at Janissa’s Spa,” he added.

Prior to joining the staff at Spice Island Beach Resort, Thomas was the Spa Manager and Head Therapist at the Carlisle Bay Resort in Antigua. As well as providing spa treatments such as facials, waxing, aromatherapy treatment and Reiki, she was credited with introducing and developing tropical body wraps from fruits grown in the hotel’s garden.

She has complete familiarity with an array of spa products and specializes in clinical and holistic therapies. Additionally, Thomas is a member of the British Association of Therapists as well as a member of the Confederation of International Therapists, renowned for its high levels of strict training and superb quality.

Thomas obtained her diploma in Beauty Therapy from the Steiner Beauty Training College in London, England, one of the most elite institutions for beauty. She also maintains certificates in Guniot tanning systems, Swedish body and facial massage, aromatherapy treatments and body wraps and has a vast knowledge of accounting, bookkeeping and financial management.

Janissa’s Spa

The luxurious Janissa’s Spa was completely rebuilt following Spice’s $12 million renovation in 2005. It encompasses 5,600 square feet and contains four indoor treatment lounges, an exterior room, an outdoor relaxation lounge, an outdoor sunken whirlpool bath, an exterior courtyard, and a full-service salon. Types of spa and salon services include: massage therapies, skin and facial treatments, nail and waxing services, and salon services. For a combined array of treatments, the spa offers various packages.

Janissa’s Spa is open daily, 7am-7pm (off-season hours sometimes vary). Reservations are recommended for all salon and spa services. Treatments at the spa are not included in the resorts rates, and prices are subject to change.

For guests who wish to maintain their fitness routines while on vacation, the Cybex fitness center features a state-of the art fitness center including treadmills, stationary bikes and a wide selection of free weights.
